Maybe you or someone you know is going through a midlife crisis. In the Dave Matthews song Ants Marching, he describes the monotony of daily routine. Even us bloggers feel like throwing our keyboards into the Pacific Ocean, find a job tending bar along the coast and take lunch breaks snorkeling with the fishes. It never occurred to me that even multi-platinum selling artists might tire of their day jobs. Could this be the case with Dave Matthews? Maybe boredom with his multi-million dollar touring business motivated his television acting debut on last night's episode of House. Forget the fact that he has his own traveling caterer that beats any Craft services table, I can understand him seeking refuge from his music circus for the calmer realm of television acting.
Many have mentioned that Jennifer Hudson should not have received her Oscar for acting like a singer, because it isn't really acting per se. If you'd seen last night's episode the same can be claimed for Dave, who's role called for a musical savant who plays the piano vis-a-vis a hand accident that happened to him when he was ten. The only way to save him from his hand affliction is to take away the piano playing abilities he acquired. In this TV's Top 5! clip we watch as House and Dave's character Patrick boogie down on the keys.
I say bravo for Dave who is stepping out of his comfort zone into a new craft. He isn't half bad after all. Even if it is a over zealous agent that brought him into his acting debut, I think we were all thankful for the episode.
On another issue, there is finally something that we can agree with Rosie about. On yesterday's episode of The View, she discusses the difference between Antonella Barba and Frenchie Davis' internet pictures and why the decision to keep Antonella in the competition is both "weightest and weicist". Check the clip out. It's hard not to agree with Rosie, and hooray for the small act of personal redemption.

Debut?
Do you realize that Dave has acted in two indie movies with a couple upcoming. Even a rudimentary search on imdb would tell you that, which would seem like a reasonable first step for an entertainment blogger.
I think he looks quite comfortable on the screen (big or small).

He doesn't play the piano because of a hand accident when he was 10. He lands in the hospital because of a hand condition that arises during a performance. He plays the piano because of a bus accident when he was 10 that left him with brain damage, and piano-playing savantism.

Karen is right. He became a savant after suffering brain damage to the right side of his brain. That is why his dad had to decide if he wanted the son to have the right side of his brain removed or not. If it was removed, he might be able to be more "normal" but he wouldn't be able to play the piano anymore. Are you sure you were watching??? And Legend was right...this wasn't Dave Matthew's acting debut. He was also in the movie Because of Winn-Dixie with Jeff Daniels, Cicely Tyson & AnnaSophia Robb. Even my kids recognized him from the movie.

I completely disagree with Rosie (what else is new...) regarding the Antonella/Frenchie thing, not that it matters to me either way. I don't think race or weight has anything to do with it.
You have to keep in mind that Frenchie's photos were taken for an actual porn site, she was completely topless and she was paid for them.
On the other hand, Antonella's pics were taken by some friends just clowning around. She probably didn't intend for them to be distributed the way they were. Plus, she doesn't even show anything. The photos are about as risque as a perfume ad in any major magazine (now that the raunchiest pictures have proven to be fakes.) She just has the bad luck to have some really crappy friends with internet access.
That being said, I'm not defending Antonella. She needs to be kicked off the show - but because she sucks, not because of the photos. I think Rosie is just looking for more attention now that the Donald Trump thing is over.

Yes, Dave Matthews has played other roles, including the cute little movie about a girl's coming of age because of her dog. Always good to do a bit more research before writing a story. You know how intense some of us are. :)

I have not seen Rosie's comments but it seems to me the biggest difference between Frenchie (who I loved) and Antonella (who I think has done a horrible job since Hollywood week) is that Frenchie actually posed for an internet porn site, which she did not disclose, and Antonella's pictures (at least the ones that are definately her) where private pictures that someone posted on the internet.

Hey legend and Spucy?! Elizabeth specifically stated "television acting debut " key word here being "television". Try reading completely before you start bashing someone.

Julie..The post was edited after the comments. It is not a new 'craft' to go from acting in movies to television acting. This was a poorly researched post with numerous inconsistencies that were pointed out, two items that are not even related and other grammatical errors that I won't even get into.
You can complain that I was not thorough in my critique, but not that I should "try reading completely".

Hey Legend, sorry to make you so annoyed about the TV's Top 5! clips I set up everyday. The context I intended in this post was, Dave Matthews is stepping out of his music craft into the acting craft. It takes more than a few gigs to perfect any skill. Dave Matthews is an incredibly busy musician, so it takes effort on his part to step away from his role as a music mogul into any other career. Some would argue that acting for movies is different than acting for television. Maybe thats why some television stars can't make the movie crossover, etc. etc. I just wanted to make it clear that not everyone has an opportunity to try a new career. Even very successful people. You don't really need that much research to get to the crux of the human need to add to your arsenal of life experiences, nor do you need much research to commend another person's real efforts.

A simple search on IMDB would have told you that he has had several acting jobs before. This is his first TV performance, but he has been interested in acting for many, many years. Next time ... do some research before you write an article.

Wow people... you really take blog posts on a website seriously! Are you all that tight-assed about every minor thing in your life, or is TV Squad just such major part of your life? This is a great site and all, but you don't need to get so angry at one of its bloggers for not knowing about Dave Matthews' few previous acting gigs.

Yes this was Dave's first TELEVISION debut, he has been acting for quite awhile. He was in Because of Winn Dixie as well as Where the Red Fern Grows and will be in two upcoming films. Kudos to Dave, I think he is doing great! As for the monotony of being on tour and the music world, I don't think Dave would give that up. Acting just may be another outlet.

ROSIES COMMENTS SHOULD BE TAKEN FROM WHERE THEY COME.
NO GOOD SHOW LIKE HOUSE SHOULD BE PREMPTED FOR SUCH A DISGRACE AS AMERICAN IDOL. IT IS ALMOST AS BAD AS SURVIVOR WHEN THEY HAD TO EAT WORMS OR WHATEVER. THOSE SHOWS ARE DISGUSTING AT LEAST HOUSE IS ENTERTAINING TO THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE
