Lifetime orders up a Side Order of Life for this July

Marisa Coughlan Lifetime does not currently air any original scripted series, but it plans to change that with three new original series. The first two, Army Wives and State of Mind, were mentioned previously, and the third, a "comedic drama" called Side Order of Life, will premiere this July along with State of Mind (Army Wives will premiere in June).

The description of Side Order of Life is rather vague: a female magazine photographer gets a "wake up call from the universe" and decides to change her life and make every day count. While I don't want to put the show down without having seen it, I have to disagree with its philosophy. In my experience, you don't have to make every day count. You can actually make every other Wednesday count and still come out just fine. Frankly, I think people who try to make every day count are just being greedy.

The new series is produced by Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen (American Beauty) and stars Marisa Coughlan (Boston Legal) in the lead role as Jenny McIntyre along with Jason Priestley, Christopher Gartin and Diana-Maria Riva. The pilot was directed by James Frawley, who has directed episodes of Ally McBeal, Smallville, Ed and Judging Amy.
