Brian and Stewie Griffin's talk show Up Late is on the air... if you consider MySpace to be the air. Up Late with Stewie and Brian is an online-only spinoff of Family Guy, featuring everybody's favorite animated characters who wouldn't be able to talk in a live-action version of the TV show. The first 10-minute episode includes an interview with Rob Corddry, who conveniently has a new TV show (The Winner) to hawk. And the show just happens to be on Fox, the same network as Family Guy. By some strange coincidence, Fox also owns MySpace. What are the odds? Did I mention that The Winner is produced by Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane and writer Ricky Blitt?
I think Fox might be on to something brilliant here. Nobody expects objectivity from the cartoon hosts of a fake, and obviously scripted, interview show. So they can promote all the Fox programming they like. Sure, Corddry makes a show of getting upset and storming off, but then the webisode ends with a lengthy clip from The Winner.
There are a few laughs in the first episode, but it's definitely not up to Family Guy standards. Hopefully future episodes will be a little less self-promotional and a lot funnier. Video of the first clip is available after the jump.

I got one laugh from the webisode. It was largely a waste of my time, just like The Winner was.

Okay, here's what I don't get from the folks at Fox...they already have enough trouble to get enough episodes to air rerun free (like one new episode in a month than taking a huge break,) yet, they found the time to do these shorts to put online? Um, how about concentrating on putting the tv show first.
