Desperate Housewives: My Husband The Pig

Mike on Desperate Housewives(S03E16) Well, even with Bree on her honeymoon, it looks like things are going to be interesting on Wisteria Lane. I had the thought at the end, when Rex was narrating about the Suburban Lanes of Broken Dreams that maybe Carlos is going to offer to adopt Edie's son. Yeah, yeah, I know Charlie is just supposed to be gone for a month, but this is Desperate Housewives. That means Charlie is probably going to die.

Or wait! Hey, hey, hey! Nine months is a long time: It is certainly long enough for Carlos and Gaby to get back together and adopt Danielle's baby... Do you think we'll find out that Austin isn't the father so he can come back and be with Julie? But maybe creepy Andrew is right and Julie is too good for Austin. Do you think that is Andrew's end game?

At any rate, I seriously doubt we've seen the last of Danielle and her baby.

As for our mayoral candidate, I think we have enough time for him to marry Gaby and then for them to break up and for Gaby to get back together with Carlos. Carlos rocks; he just can't help be a decent guy.

I felt bad for Edie when she brokenly, pragmatically said that for women, if we fail as mothers, we fail as human beings. To a very large extent in our society, that's true. I don't understand why Edie gave Charlie custody of Travers, but I do understand the impulse to give her child the best possible life. And Carlos was absolutely right to lay into her for leaving Travers alone at night while she went out and partied.

I'm loving the great chemistry between Ian, Mike, and Orson. Did Mike really have anything to lose though, at that poker game? I mean, Susan saw the ring and tried it on. Does it really matter that Ian saw it too and decided to propose that day? He already proposed to her in the morgue, literally over his dead wife's body, for crying out loud. If Susan wants to be with Mike, she isn't going to go through with a marriage to Ian.

As entertaining as watching these tete-a-tetes is, it's somehow not as satisfying as watching Carlos and Gaby work their way back to each other. At least the writers seem to know that Gaby and Carlos need to be able to learn to trust each other and learn to be friends with each other before they can be together. Even if they don't know it.

Poor Tom. Always the guy with the best of intentions. I was all rooting for Lynette because I've been so tired lately and I had an anniversary on Friday and I just wanted to stay home and get some work done. That was wanted for my anniversary. (We did go out and celebrate last night). But I was suitably embarrassed and chagrined when Lynette said that despite being so tired, it's worse to go through the motions than to stop doing even that. It's important to make the gestures.
