I'm a sucker for commercials. I think they're needed, and when they're done right they can sometimes be better than the shows they're inserted into. I also think they can tell more about a certain time than the shows themselves.
After the jump is a bunch of commercials from the 60s, 70, and 80s. Some you'll remember instantly, and some you'll see for the first time. Another reason to love the internets: commercials you thought you'd never see again can live on forever!
It's weird how you remember an old commercial like it was yesterday but had no idea that person was in the commercial. Here's Jason Alexander getting waaaaay too excited over lettuce and tomatoes.
Whatever happened to Joey Heatherton?
"You, alright? I learned it from watching you!"
Once upon a time, cigarettes were perfectly safe to smoke

Andy and Barney really liked coffee too (the "nice to hold jar??")

Thanks for posting these, Bob. It's amazing how we can't stand these when they interrupt our favorite shows but give at a while and they make perfect time capsules.
Jason Alexander must have left that spot off his resume trying out for the role of Seinfeld.
Lola Heatherton is still around according to imdb.com. Her last roll being in 2002.

That cigarette commercial was pretty wild. How times change. "The special paper lets in fresh air with every puff." LOL

Oops, I got confused with Catherine OHara's character on SCTV. Of course I meant Joey Heatherton.
