Choosing immunity over comfort is stupid, especially after losing a member of the team for health reasons. Especially when you want to keep a numbers advantage. This was a stupid move by Moto, all the way around... they got rid of the wrong person and Cassandra made a point about Lil's strength. Lisi is such a jealous, mean-spirited bitch and it's very difficult to have any joy when she is stealing screen time. As far as the Dreamz "soliloquy," I think he had a good idea, but it came off as arrogant and ridiculous, showing he really had little or no place in the tribe. Actually, this was one of the better episodes so far... looking forward to the Rocky/Dreamz battle of the nicknames next week.

The message in the bottle gave a choice, the chance to keep their camp or the chance to vote someone out...

What would the message have read if Ravu had won? Obviously they would have chose to switch camps instead of voting someone off.

It was a twist for Moto, but I have the feeling if Ravu had won they would have gotten a different bottle with a different message.

I love how MOTO had a pow wow to discuss the "choice" Jeff gave to them, and all of them thought "hell i am safe!" knowing ONE of them had to GO, it was like the weak ones were shocked that dreamz started pointing fingers! I am so glad this happened, maybe this will knock MOTO off its winning streak, cause dissension and Rocky will win!

What I'm seeing is a social structure much akin to the "rich get richer and the poor get poorer". No middle class here folks ! Like those snobs at the country club who pretend to all be friends at dinner or on the golf course... they are willing to place each other on the grill if it means keeping their social standing or political office (so to speak). Whereas you will see that the "poor" will openly complain - no false fronts held here. Their problem is bonding. It's difficult to bond in dire situations... but it can be done and might be their only saving grace at this point in the game. "C'mon people now... try to love one another - right now!"

QUESTION:

Immunity challenge twist: a sealed glass bottle with a message inside will be opened by the winning tribe after the challenge.

As winners of the challenge, Moto gets the sealed bottle. The message reveals that Moto must decide what is more important to them: Immunity or comfort.

To keep their Immunity they must live at the Ravu tribe camp. To enjoy the food and comfort at the Moto camp, they must give up Immunity and go to Tribal Council.

Moto chose to keep their comfort and send home one of their own at Tribal Council.

Were there two bottles with different questions tailored to whichever tribe won the IC? The question in the bottle opened by Moto would have made no sense if Ravu had won. They had/have nothing to give up.

The message did address Ravu, if they won. They would be given the choice to switch camps and vote someone off, or stay where they were and send Moto to tribal.

BC, the message in the bottle would have been the same for Ravu, as it was win-win for them had they won the immunity challenge.

- Ravu lives at the "have nots" campsite

- in your hypothetical, Ravu wins the challenge

- the message in the bottle states (paraphrasing), "Switch to the other tribe's camp, or go to Tribal Council."

- Ravu chooses to move to the "haves" campsite, and therefore Moto must go to Tribal Council since Moto lost immunity in the challenge.

See?

It's just too bad it didn't work. This season won't be truly interesting for me until the producers find a way to break the "campsite logjam" and get it switched up. I can't wait to see Moto fall apart when they move into the "have nots" campsite.

Max, I don't agree with your reading of the situation (though now I really wish I hadn't deleted my TIVO'd episode).

The message said "switch camps, or you go to tribal council", I think.

I have been watching Survivor since the first season. What made it interesting was that there were always people you cared for more than others and you were rooting for your "faves" to win; this season I am rooting for no one and I don't care about any of this assemblage of losers. I stopped watching two weeks ago because not only is the cast fifth rate, they are BORING. BIG TIME BORING. For the first time since Survivor aired, I am NOT watching.

Max/David: perhaps I'm missing something, but your description of the "twist" makes it a Win/Win for Ravu and Lose/Lose for Moto. What am I missing?

I am sure that it was just one message. It said, to paraphrase a little, you have now won the challenge but this bottle gives you a choice. You can either choose comfort or immunity - choose to live in Moto's camp and go to tribal council, or choose to live in Ravu's camp and stay immune.

If Moto wins, they must change camps to retain immunity. If Ravu wins, they must stay in camp to retain immunity. But the message is the same - you have won, but rather than simply winning immunity what you won is a choice between comfort and immunity.

Ugh, most of the contestants still in who are getting camera time this year are unlikeable. I don't think that the show can survive too many more seasons with dopes like this. (Pun intended.)

Yeah, Robert and Doug! Survivor is a big time loser this season. Yes, INDEED, it will not survive on the current track. I too stopped watching several weeks ago. Who needs to spend an hour with a bunch of boring losers? There is not an interesting cat in the crowd. BOO-HISS! BOO-HISS! BOO-HISS! On another note: Even one of my other favorites has become unwatchable this season: The Greatest Race. It is tough to decided which one is more boring. I will not be watching either one to find out.

anyone who says that they were wrong for choosing to go to tribal council needs to get a clue. By giving the other team not only all the comforts of their camp but also the fishing gear it puts them at a major disadvantage. Believe me, I am sure everyone on Ravu would sell YaoMan up the river for a bed and some of that fish. Youve seen how much weight it appears ravu has lost and how weak everyone on the team appears to be. I think if they would have given them the camp it would be looked back on as the stepping stone that let ravu back in this game. Now if ravu does get back in it because moto has to deal with the weak cassandra rather than liliana thats a whole different story.

My post was written on the assumption that when they traded camps EVERYTHING (the fishing equipment, the spices and everything else they won that day, sofa/bed) stayed there. Do you think i am right or do you think moto could have brought anything they could carry?

I don't know what everyone's thoughts are on this, but I think Survivor has lost something the past few seasons -- its grown stale in my opinion. I still watch the show, but not like I did in the early seasons, and I feel like if I miss a show or two its no big deal. The past few seasons are more like been there done that before or a rerun with different faces playing the same parts.

Each time there has been a "new" twist that season they always go back to the regular survivor a few episodes later...like men vs. women; 4 tribes based on race; and this years everyone's on one island together at the beginning. THESE WERE ALL VERY INTERESTING TWISTS THAT WERE SCRAPED WAY TOO SOON IN THE GAME. Why?


Personally, here is what I would like to see:

I would like a season where they take the 16/18/20 contestants and put them all together from the start -- everyone versus everyone completely throughout the game.

You could still have some "team" competitions by drawing names from a hat where the winners were safe from vote; have reward challenges where they winner had to pick 1-2 people to share rewards to create the conflict; make the team challenges physical (strength, swimming, ect) whenever there was an even number, and when its uneven numbers make the team challenges more mental (memory, puzzles, eating insects); plus they could do more individual events like standing on poles or other similar challenges.

I think it would be an interesting concept to see whom aligns with whom to make pacts, yet by random "team" drawings they would probably compete against one another, and by making the challenges as much mental as physical that no one would have a clear advantage. With the people all together in one area trying to find food, fire, shelter there would be a lot of drama that the network wants.

The game is out wit, out last, out play -- so why not an everyone versus everyone Survivor? Surely its worth a chance to spice things up!


I would like to see other thoughts on this idea!

It's lose/win for Moto. They have to switch to the "have nots" camp, but they get immunity, which is the most important thing in the game, bar none.

Having immunity is never a bad thing, because it's the only assurance you have you'll be around after the night's Tribal Council. Everything else is just window dressing. :)

No one knows who they're really pulling for until it gets down to on tribe. And now that the rich tribe had to vote someone off. As Lisi said it's group of 5 not 6. What until she's not even part of the 5.

David, I think that if Moto chose immunity they were going to be carted right to Ravu's beach and vice versa. Though, of course, we'll not know unless it happens again.

At first I thought that it was silly to choose comfort, but I have changed my mind. Moto has dominated the challenges in part because they are healthier and less stressed. Why hand Ravu such a big advantage? Keep the comfort, lose a member, keep winning rewards and immunity challenges.

And, to clarify my earlier comment, I will keep watching the show. I am long past hooked. I just worry that they are losing too much audience, and this season's group is just not that great.

I do like the single tribe, everything is personal immunity idea, though.

Too bad the producers of Survivor didn't sit in on some of our Survivor chats last season. There were some really great ideas like: Duel Survivor - have two seperate games running at the same time on two locations and when they think they are down to a single tribe introduce them to each other; Extreme Survivor where the tribe members are more assertive in the challenges, etc and Twin Survivor - tribes are made up of identical twins - I really would like to see that one.

I wish they would make a rule that says you can't make alliances - or at the very least you can't discuss who you're voting off. Then you would see who votes for personal reasons and who votes for the good of the tribe. And you'd see who can't make their own decisions!!
