Fans of the hit series Lost have watched many of their favorite characters bite the dust since the show premiered. Shannon, Boone, Ana-Lucia, Libby, and Eko, just to name a few. Since "Flashes Before Your Eyes" aired on February 14, fans have been fearing the worst: that Desmond's vision of Charlie dying comes true.USA Today has just revealed a few tidbits about upcoming episodes, one of them will be centered around Charlie. Information about this Charlie-centric episode is not pouring in right now but it is known that previous episodes will help prep fans for this episode. A lot of fans are not ready to see Charlie go, especially if it means the end of Charlie and Claire, and can't see how the show would kill a character who has been on the show for almost three years now.
(Spoilers after the jump)
In her latest "Lost Redux" feature, Kristin Veitch from E! Online drops a huge hint about Charlie's fate: "Life and Style magazine is reporting that Dominic Monaghan has been told he won't be back for next season." The gossip guru hasn't heard more about the rumor herself and said she would investigate it, but could this be the truth? Will Desmond's vision come true?
Lost is known for killing a few characters here and there, regulars aren't immune to the slaughter. Producers are doing their best to keep the date of the Charlie-centric episode as secret as possible, why if not so that fans don't know when the death occurs? Lost deaths have mostly occurred in the episode featuring flashbacks of said character.
Are producers toying with fans and having foilers (aka false spoilers) be leaked so that people believe Charlie will die but won't after all? (In the past, spoilers aficionados have known exactly who would die and in which episode. So having them think Charlie will die in his episode and having him be saved would be something different for sure.) Or are they slowly preparing us for the demise of one loved character?
No matter what happens, Monaghan claims that he would be fine with either outcomes.

'Regular' is a nice qualifier, but Charlie's death would be the first of the show's 'Stars' to die. Therefore, I doubt it. Kill Paulo.

Both Boone and Shannon were regulars and they're dead. I'd like to see him go, I just get the feeling the producers have no clue what to do with him. They just keep going back to the drug addict thing, and he's being all comedy relief guy at the moment even though he kidnapped Sun last year and helped Sawyer steal all the guns from the hatch.

Many commenters have interpreted the events of last night's episode to mean that Hurley has broken the "curse" that causes people to die around him -- and that even though Desmond can see the future and believes that Charlie has been doomed by fate, that isn't set in stone... there's always a chance of changing your destiny. If Charlie were actually to die, it would seem as if the show (or the island, or the universe, or the writers, or whatever) was choosing the idea of inexorable fate over the idea of hope.

Boone and Shannon were nothing charaters, sure they were considered regulars but their storyline well... there was none. Boone died because he was useless and then Shannon died because without Boone she was useless.

Maybe those people should watch BSG this weekend.

Hurley thought he had broken the curse and made his own luck when he got rid of all of the DHARMA food with Libby in an inspiring scene. But, fate always catches up to Hurley and people around keep dying.
If Charlie dies, then the curse remains intact, and Desmond's theory that you can only prolong the inevitable, not stop it, remains true.
If they save Charlie, then that will have huge implications for both Desmond and Hurley's plotlines. Either way, it'll be great for their storylines.

It would be great if the Donny Darko premise would be fulfilled. I criticized "Flashes before your eyes" for using the reference but not living up to it's potential, because, you know, it isn't that fantastic for you destiny beeing to bush some darned button :-)
But it would be really cool if Charlie would accept his destiny and sacrifice himself for the greater good, just like Donnie. I would really fall back in love with the show if it would play out that way AND if they show the story leading up to that point in it's full compared to the horribly shortened decision-making-process Desmond had during his flashback (there was none, he just left, stupid idiot).

Charlie's death would be 3 years too late as far as I'm concerned, he should have been killed off in season one when Ethan strung him up in that tree.
But really I don't care just as long as he dies...I hate that character.

I personally believe it would be HORRIBLE for the show if Charlie was killed off. I'm an original viewer and love the show, but I have to admit I'm a Lord of the Rings Freak and wouldn't have even started watching LOST if Dom wasn't on it. I'm sure the writers know what they're doing, but if they are thinking about killing off Charlie they need to think about all the people who watch the show for Charlie, including me. I might very much be through with the show if he is killed, and LOST doesn't really need to lose anymore viewers.
Dom is also one of the show's main promoters. He and Evangeline are about the only one's that go on talk shows and all that jazz. I don't think they really want to lose him. :D

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really hope they don't kill Charlie. He's been my favourite since day one and there's so much the creators could do with his character.

Can they kill him off? How about YES PLEASE?! And maybe he'll take Clair with him? I'm okay with unanswered mysteries but those two whiners are getting a little old......

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet... Life and Style magazine is the worst piece of tabloid trash! I wouldn't believe anything they "report."

Almost exactly a year ago, Life&Style magazine
reported that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes would call off their wedding so the story about Monaghan might easily be false.

Life and Style may not be the most accurate indeed but they do raise an interesting discussion. It's interesting to see where Charlie stands with fans and speculate as to if the show will really kill him off or not.
Time will tell. But for sure, Charlie's life is still hanging in the balance.

There's no way in hell Charlie is going to die. It's far too predictable at this point.
I've heard theories of Desmond dying in his place, but then the Des-Pen storyline is left over with, and its supposed to be central to this season and the overall arc of the show.
I don't know if anyone is going to die, but I have Nikki and Sayid left in the TVS Lost Death Pool, so here's hoping its one of them.

I know his part in the story has been weak lately, but LOST really wouldn't be the same without him. I really hope they keep him around and develop more of his story line, including his love for Claire and Aaron.

REALLY? I find this very hard to believe - it seems most fans find Charlie unbelievably annoying, plus it's not like Claire and Charlie have a well-defined or even high-profile relationship (if they even have one at all - one kiss at the end of last season does not a relationship make).

It's nice to see that people can talk about Lost without complaining that it has gone 'downhill' in their eyes. I think this has been a first in quite a long time.

There is a rumor circulating that Charlie will not die but suffer some kind of catastrophic injury that will require plastic surgery -- he will return to the camp played by a different actor.
