In one fell swoop ReplayTV PC Edition has gone from being the most expensive PC-based PVR software on the market to becoming one of the cheapest commercial options around. I'd say kudos to ReplayTV if I didn't believe the price drop was prompted by the fact that nobody was willing to pay $100 for the software.Perhaps most surprising is the fact that ReplayTV is actually refunding $50 to each person who has already bought the software.
As we've pointed out in the past, ReplayTV PC Edition does have a nice interface and some pretty advanced search functions, but it was hampered by its high price. Hopefully this announcement will expose the software to a wider audience.
ReplayTV has also released version 1.2 of its software with updates, including enhanced mouse-based navigation.

Excellent news.
I wish this company well, as it reinvents itself. I have used (and still use) my ReplayTV for several years and it's performed terrifically. I expect their software to be of the highest standard.
Next HD support and we have a winner, IMHO.

Too bad they alienated their devoted customers by not allowing the PC edition to talk to their stand-alone 4000-5500 series DVR's. That, along with lack of HD support, doomed this software to failure right from the start.

I have a couple of ReplayTV's from back in the day an they were nice boxes. They still work till this day (well, until the end of the month). When I signed up I got the monthly plan thinking that in a few years they would die anyway or I would upgrade. I did upgrade to BeyondTV but I kept the Replay TV boxes around for backup of the shows I most valued. I just recently called to see if I could get a discount on the lifetime membership ($299) and they wouldn't budge. So I canceled the service . . . something I should have done 2 years ago. Ah, what could have been. But the PC edition is a waist of time . . . and based on their track record, I wouldn't expect much from them.
