Tonight, John McCain announced that he is running for president... on the Late Show with David Letterman. McCain reminded Letterman that he had invited the Senator back to the show to announce his candidacy, so that's what he did. Although, McCain also pointed out that it's not his "formal" announcement, which he says he will make in April.I was a little surprised McCain did it this way, instead of the old-fashioned way, but hey! It worked for Arnold Schwarzenegger (but not John Edwards). I can't help but wonder if he did it on Letterman to avoid questions from the press, just like many of the Democratic candidates did when they announced their candidacy on their webpages.
Interesting factoid: John McCain is now 70 years old. If he wins, he will be the oldest president ever sworn in for a first term. Reagan was 73 when he was sworn in for his second term.

I used to love McCain before he started dating Jerry Falwell. I hope he picks a good running mate (Rudy?), because I'm worried that he's a little too old and I'll want to know that the country will still be in good shape if he croaks while in office.
Kudos to John for doing something unconventional, but I think reaffirming his friendship to Jon Stewart and announcing it on The Daily Show may have garnered some younger votes.

Unfortunately, McCain's time has passed. And he is less than authentic, seeing how he formally ran as a maverick and now is cozying up with the religious right.
Unfortunately, you need to do that in the Republican party. Look at our terrific President GWB. He was smart enough at least to play up his born-again credentials and that was probably the main reason he won.
I think that '08 is the Democrats to lose. After 8 years of Republican policies and mediocrity, the US will be looking for something different. Hopefully it will be Barack Obama.

Quite frankly, McCain should NEVER be supported - no matter which office he is hoping to be elected.
1. McCain was part of the notorious "Keating 5" Savings and Loan scandal in Arizona some years back that literally stole millions of dollars and caused the collapse of the S&L industry.
2. McCain supported legislation in Arizona that refused to recognize Dr. Martin Luther King, because of this, Arizona was THE LAST state to acknowlege the MLK holiday.
So, this proves 2 things - he does not know Fiscal finance(polite way of saying McCain's a Crook) and he drops the ball on important social issues...

What I can't stand about John McCain is those yellowish long fingernails he has. They make me CRINGE when they're displayed in interviews! Just as worse as my science teacher from 8th grade!
