Pilot season is not only the time to develop potential new scripted shows but also time to present the networks new reality series that may hit the screen comes Fall. With a writers strike just around the corner, networks are a bit more interested in reality shows. Here is a rundown of a six reality series in the works (by a major or cable network) that may (sadly in some cases) hit a TV screen near you pretty soon.- Party Mamas: This reality show features a charismatic mom currently planning a huge event for one of her kids (e.g., Bar Mitzvah, Sweet 16, Confirmation, etc.). The series is set to follow the mother as she plans the most spectacular party around the block!
- Untitled Ugly Betty type reality show: As expected there is an Ugly Betty reality show in the works. This show will help "ugly" women get in shape and style to become actresses, models, dancers, hosts, soap stars, etc.
- Untitled tabloid reporter show: This reality show is set to follow celebrity gossip and pop culture fans who want to make it as reporters for a tabloid magazine.
- 5ive Hot Blondes: This Queer Eye sort of a show will feature five blondes who will try to show off their expertise in the hope to change the stereotype that blondes have more fun and don't have brains.
- Acting camp reality show: This show will follow people who have very little acting skills as they go through an acting camp.
- Untitled geeky-guy-will-get-help-to-get-the-girl type show: This show doesn't have the most original of premise but may be fun to watch as they will try to have quirky and geeky guys who rather play online videogames get the girl. The guy-in-need-of-help of the week will get help from a women's man in order to get a woman's phone number.
If you were in charge of reality programming for a network, would you pick any of those?

Cindy and Jennifer, I'm with you on this. I'm not sure any of those interested me much. Some could have interesting episodes but they would surely become too repetitive... Sad thing is that networks think we will want to watch that...

I'd sooner pick my nose than any of these. In fact, I'd rather pick my dog's nose than those offerings.

Thanks, Jen. I'm glad I could bring a smile to your face.
Helps to balance things out a bit after all the people I usually piss off.

You know this sort of reality programming to replace scripted shows during a strike thing wouldn't be so bad if anyone responsible for creating these shows actually had a quality idea (like "Survivor" or "The Amazing Race", or even "Hell's Kitchen"). Instead it's all (as my brother would say but slightly edited) "same crap, different package".
