(S03E15) I'm going to take this moment to make a plea to Rob Thomas and The CW to not throw out the season long (or semi-season long) story arcs on this show. This episode was a prime example of what the buildup from several episodes of story can result in. Would the climax of this episode been as dramatic had we only been built up for one, two or even three episodes?
Sure, most of us called Tim the mastermind of the murder all along, but this episode threw so many wrenches into the works that I was quickly doubting myself. It wasn't until the final moments of the episode that I was once again sure Tim was responsible.
The key point I think that signaled Tim as setting up Landry was when he told Veronica to "pick up the dry cleaning." Clearly he had access to Landry's clothes in order to set him up.
Keith being back in uniform must feel incredibly liberating for him, as nothing holds him back from what access he has to case files and such. However I can see that being tied to going "by the book" might be something he'll have to get used to once again, as he can't go prowling around into peoples' homes and impersonating other people as an officer of the law. Man, that's going to be boring.
But getting back to the season long arc issue again (sorry, I can't let it go). I think we were told that there would still be things carrying over throughout a season, like ... relationships. So that's what we have to look forward to very week? To see how Piz and Veronica or Logan and Parker are doing? Is that what's really going to boost ratings for this show?
I almost had to wonder if that final scene with Veronica and Keith was a shout-out to the fact that there would not be another story arc. It seemed as though we were thrown a bone to the next mystery to look forward to until the end of April(!), but alas it doesn't seem so.
Maybe they want this to be another Gilmore Girls? Which brings me to the quote of the episode:
Wallace: "What?"
Veronica: "I'm just trying to figure out which Gilmore girl you are."

I felt like Landry doing it was too easy, so I was still expecting a twist. But while Tim kept looking guilty, I was kinda thinking the son who had all those random appearances might show up.
Anyway, my favorite moment was:
Stripper: Do we look like we smoke?
Tim (thinks for a moment): Yes.
The way he delivered that line was absolutely hilarious.

I missed the first couple of minutes. Did Lamb even get a mention? Anything? Anything at all? Maybe they could find time to mention his death in one of the five thousand hair coloring commercials.
I feel like I didn't really see the episode. I did - I sat there and watched the whole thing - but at the end I was left with such a feeling of "meh" the whole thing just sorta vanished, and I continued thinking about how much I'm looking forward to next week's Heroes.

was it just me or did it seem like Tim was being telegraphed like a Rex Grossman pass? It wasnt as bad in the episodes before this but the second he came on screen i knew it was him. Great episode though.
Why did Keith not mention to Veronica that he was proud that she solved the case (on her own i might add)? It seemed a little strange but the Mars family is nothing but strange.
I also hope the show lasts long enough to get back some more mini-arcs or any sort of arcs. i just hope it gets kept for season 4. what else are they going to replace it with? they have cut out all the good (expensive) actors already so it can't be that expensive. i'll even throw in 20 bucks. who's with me?

The last two shows I kept trying to figure out how Tim could have done it because there is no way it was Landry. Tim has just been sulking around in the background all these episodes for too long now for him not to have done something.
I meant to ask this last week... why was the Dean's wife's house all covered in plastic when Lamb got killed? did I miss something? Did the ex husband put that down so he could kill her and dispose of the body and not leave any evidence?

As much as I love these resolution episodes, I really miss the season-long story arcs. More buildup and more tension hits you as the end of the season approaches. Also, the payoff is much greater and more exciting. Finding out that Aaron and Cassidy were the culprits was much more satisfying than finding out that Mercer and Tim did the deed.

This season has been way too predictable. At least I was shocked when Lilly's killer was revealed, or the bus crash culprit. Tim was too obvious.

Hopefully they finish the season on a high note. No more scooby doo please.

Anyone else starting to dislike how they are portraying Keith as Inspector Gadget-like. I mean, I know the show is called Veronica Mars, but shouldn't they throw the man a bone every once in a while and show that he is actually smart enough to be sheriff? I also noticed how they went back to the "the killer is revealed in the episode before the finale but wait it turns out he is not the killer" formula which made the finale even more predictable.
Still it was a good episode. I couldn't help myself from liking Tim even though I knew he would eventually turn out to be the killer as soon as he walked into the prison. And I also agree that long arcs should stay because they make much better puzzles.

nukethewhalesagain: I thought they did throw him a bone when Tim and Veronica were having a pissing contest over who knew the most about license plates, Keith immediately figured it out. While Veronica, as the title character, does end up solving the mystery, they don't make Keith look like a bumbling idiot or anything.

I thought that was good, but agree that they should keep the story arcs. It is what makes the show unique to other shows. And if they want to make this into another Gilmore, here are three easy ways to make that happen:
1. Get rid of all the writers
2. Have Kieth and Veronica get in a fight and not interact with each other for 3/4 of the season
3. Create a story-line that no one really cares about but watches anyway just to see the end, even though they all know how it will end.
If they can do these things then maybe, just maybe they could make it the next Gilmore...

OK, this episode was just plain fun, in the sense that so much happened and so many twists and turns took place. Yeah, we pretty much knew it was Tim all along, but we knew it was Cassidy too, and that didn't make it any less good.
I am sad that poor Veronica keeps losing all her mentors / nemeses -- no principal, then no dean, now no Landry and no Lamb. Hopefully they will use Vinnie more the rest of the season.
And it was nice to see an arc end where Veronica wasn't in peril for a change. That "plot #72" got a little old.

About the final scene, when I saw it I thought it was more a possibility for the ending of the series. I don't know what episode this was this season, but I know initially they were only given a 13 episode season. I took this ending as being the original "end" of the season. Everything is, more or less, in it's place: Keith has his job back, Veronica solved the big mystery and isn't tied to any one person any longer. I thought it a good episode over all.

tim also says "meet me at [Landry's] house. i've still got his key," when veronica calls him to ask about "papa's cabin." then they go through his stuff, which clearly means he had access to landry's stuff for a while.
anyway, i also like the season-long arcs, or at least the semi-season-long ones because they still have some shock value to them. i can't imagine the show will be this good if they decide to make it a mystery per episode. it'll be like watching alias all over again.

There were hints it was Tim all over the episode.
For instance the recorded phone call saying he has no imagination. Who would set up a murder after a student copy if not someone who lacks imagination?
