I don't watch Grey's Anatomy. I refuse to a.) get involved in a yet another continuing medical drama, and b.) I refuse to watch a show where there are characters named McDreamy and McSteamy. So I had no idea that the title of the show, while having a double meaning (including the medical/anatomy one, with a different spelling) was also referring to the lead character from the show, played by Ellen Pompeo, named Meredith Grey.
I learned this from reading Verne Gay's column about the show here in Newsday. How did I not know this earlier?
What about other shows I don't watch? Is "Miami" the name of David Caruso's character on CSI: Miami? Is Judge Judy's real first name "Judge?" Is "Philadelphia" the name of one of the characters on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia? Or is it "Sunny?"

Well, Bob, are you aware that Heroes is about a crew of sandwiches bent on saving the world?

Ah, but It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is actually worth watching, unlike the rest of the stuff you mentioned.

Do you really want us to answer that?
And this is the most pointless topic you have ever posted that hasn't dealt with Studio 60.

Hey, I'll post something supportive: I won't watch a show with characters named "McDreamy" and "McSteamy" either. It makes me feel McBarfy. So, I didn't know that for quite awhile either. I guess it's kinda like "why is that Pursuit of Happyness movie spelled wrong?" If you don't care about seeing it, how else are you going to know?
I work on Thursday nights (since I am not a fan of said show, I don't insist on not working to go watch it), so you'd think all the GA fans would be home instead of hanging around yakking about the show. Apparently, you would be wrong.

Maybe you should pay better attention to television as it is your job to write about television.

Bob, are you serious? Your TV guru status is taking a hit that is unrecoverable.
This from the guy who slams critics for Studio 60 by saying that they "don't fully understand the show".
Bravo Bob for exposing yourself.
I'll leave you with a little hint about the Soprano's: it's title also is name after a character on the show. Yeesh.

Gee, thanks for giving me "TV guru" status, though I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not.
And it's impossible for a person who writes about TV - ANY person who writes about TV - to watch every single show on every network. Sorry, that's not how it works.

In the first few episodes, the show was more about Izzy's Anatomy, but since then they've covered her back up.
Sad, really.

I have my reasons for not liking Grey’s Anatomy – yet I’m going to go ahead and read a Newsday column about it, and then I’m going to complain to people how about how stupid I was not realizing the title was named after the lead character. So Bob, what are you complaining about A) that you’re so stupid you care that a show you refuse to watch is named after someone or B) that you’re so stupid you think people out there care that you are stupid?
Sarcasm aside, you should avoid another popular show called The Sopranos. (SPOILER WARNING!) It’s about a group of opera singers who all sing, you guessed it, Soprano. And don't even think about Ugly Betty.

that statement might work if grey's was a small show, but ffs, it's the #1 show in the country!

The title is really "Grace Anatomy" as in Seattle Grace, the hospital that is the setting of the show. Someone spelled it wrong on the proposal, and they didn't catch the mistake until ABC had already green-lit the pilot.

Damn, people like to lay on the ad hominem arguments here. Believe it or not, not every TV viewer in North America knows everything about Grey's Anatomy. Grey's is not the new Friends. I'll go back to my world where I giggle at nameless people thinking "Grey's Anatomy" is just a misspelling. Hahaha.
When you think about it, it really IS about Grey's Anatomy, especially in the first season. All about Meredith and what happens to her anatomy.

Well while that is true Bob if you work in TV land you should know what one of the most popular shows on TV is! It's not like GA is some show on MTV45 or some odd cable channel! This is always within the top 20 shows on TV, it's on a network station! It would be like saying that you didn't know what American Idol is, or that CSI stands for someones name! Don't tell us how it works Bob just because you are finally showing your and ignorant fool to everyone who didn't already know that by reading the Studio 60 "reviews"
