(S07E17) Well it looks liked we're putting The Miniature Killer on hold for the time being... or are we? I have a theory but we'll get to that later. Instead, we got a regular, run-of-the-mill episode of CSI. The whole team working together on one case, just like the good ol' days. Pretty interesting story too. It actually reminded me a lot of that episode from the third or fourth season where the cheerleader got drugged, went a little crazy, and ended up eating pieces of flesh from her dead boyfriend's chest on a football field. Remember that one? This one felt very similar. Only difference was that this time around, cannibalism wasn't the operative "C" word. Crabs took the spotlight this time. Everyone had crabs.
Centered around a popular high school basketball player who apparently slept with anything that had a pulse, we got to see the inside workings of some jealous classmates as well as the outcome of the bi-polar teacher who loved the kid too. Freaky stuff. But not freaky in the, "I'm scared" sense. Freaky in the, "what the hell is wrong with you people" sense.
He loved her, she loved him, she got jealous, and they all got crabs. Apparently you can extract DNA from crabs and determine who someone has slept with recently. Good to know... I think. Everyone got their own sort of punishment for being such lousy human beings though. That one kid went to jail. The lying girl died from the brain hemorrhage. Basketball boy died after being pushed by his girlfriend, who was then hit by the jealous teacher who drove by and scooped up the body. Then she killed herself... on top of his corpse. See what I meant when I said freaky?
That was the episode in a nutshell. Like I said earlier, it really was great to see them team working together again on one isolated case.
Now here comes my theory, and it is far-fetched, but I think it makes sense. Ready for it?
What if Sara is The Miniature Killer? It would explain the killer's fascination with Grissom. They're romantically involved and we now know that a major concern of hers is whether or not Gil trusts her. He does. Enough that he'd let her shave his beard with a straight-edge razor -- something that requires sharp eyes and a steady hand. Hmm... the same skills you'd need to make small, accurate, replicas of crime scenes.
We know she's been disgruntled about the job in the past and even had a drinking problem, but what do we know about her personal past? Could she have been one of Ernie Dell's adopted kids in that old home video? That would explain why she seemed so against the idea of going to social services to try and ID all the children in the tape. I could be way off here, but it just seems that lately, Sara is being portrayed as extra creepy. What do you guys think? Is this a legit idea?

That idea is not that far off, Sara has had her problems, and she was a ward of the state, I'm not sure if she grew up in Las Vegas . I thought she was from San Fran. But yeah it's entirely possible, but truthfully i thought CSI was about to have Nick go off the rails.
Sara would be a real good plot twist.

A little correction; in that episode with the cheerleader, she ate her female, cheerleader friend, not her boyfriend. Anyway, I dig your theory. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.
I'm actually more concerned with the written character flaws. The crew's, convenient, lapses in judgement/procedure, gets annoying. The cheese that is CSI:Miami makes their stupidity acceptable, and CSI:NY hasn't, yet, fallen into this. But the Vegas crew seems to have to many 'convenient' missteps.

Or maybe it's Grissom and he's framing Sara and she ends up shooting him in a showdown and that's how he eventually leaves the series?

It seems plausible that it could be Sara, but I refuse to believe that the killer is anyone on the team.

Whatever the plot line, there is no doubt that this "love" affair between Grissom and Sara is very, very creepy.

Interesting... My wife swears it's Hodges. But Sara's am interesting idea. Especially given the straight razor at the end of tonight's episode.

Help me here...I miss a few shows and suddenly realize that Sara and Gil are apparently finally involved. Good grief - what did I miss? Very film noir kind of a feeling, like the SM Lady from last season.

Your idea that Sara may have been one of Ernie Dell's foster kids isn't terribly farfetched. Afterall, Sara's mother killed her father, and if I'm remembering past episodes correctly Sara did go into foster care.
However, I don't think Sara is the MCSK. Unless they plan on writing Jorja Fox off the show, which would be a bad idea in my opinion, then she can't be the killer.
Having said all that, I do think it's someone who either knows Grissom or works in the lab. A few episodes ago I thought the MCSK may be Hodges.

I will try this again. My first comment is apparently floating in cyberspace.
Someone else posted this theory last week about Sara being the miniature killer, but I do not buy it. She would have to spend lots of time working on this, building the sets, setting up the scene, and she has a job that has her working long hours, then she is with Gil. I do not believe that she is a killer, either. And I do not find the Gil/Sara romance creepy, I find it very romantic and sexy, so much more so than trotting Katherine out in those tight clothes and barely there tops. Gil and Sara work in a very horrific occupation. They find solace in each other, since they both have to deal with the unthinkable. They aren't very outgoing people, so they derive their entertainment from each other.
Of course, I think William Peterson is extremely attractive. Did you see him on the cover of the TV Guide? I just had to stare at it for a few minutes! Pretty sexy grandpa!!!

Wrong thinking about the episode. It was the boyfriend who was eating the flesh of the dead cheerleader in the football field. Someone in the lab being the miniture killer is a spin I hadn't thought about it but, I don't think it's Sara. I hope not because I'd like to see her and Gris get together. And why would that be gross?

Sara can't be the mini-killer - she can't leave the series. Hodges I can see and that would be cool. But not Sara - of course my opinion doesn't count to the writers. It would be very interesting if it was though. Or they could play it out until the series ends and then catch her as the killer. Hmmmm lots of good theories. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

Creepy? Really? My wife and friends waited, for all the seasons, for them to finally get together. All they've shown us is how good they are for eachother. More importantly, that they weren't good for anyone else. But that's just us. I had 2 cents lying around and decided to pass it on. :)

Considering that the sullen one's mother had a psychotic break and murdered her abusive husband (who may or may not have been abusing the kids) it is entirely plausible that TPTB would do a like mother like daughter story line. The relationship with Gil is not just creepy but it is sleazy, unprofessional and unethical. Gil is definitely the older male authority figure to her Electra; the ultimate daddy replacement. How many completed cases would be open for retrial due to the reasonable doubt caused by Gil's sexual misconduct?

I think it could be Hodges not Sarah if I recall correctly he was part of that train club as well and was the one who pointed it out to Gil. He is creepy fascinated with Grissom as well.

I was glad to see someone finally remembered the cheerleader cannibal episode accurately. They captured the girl who ate her friend because the dead girl had stomach poisoning and the one who ate her got it too.
There have been a few episodes using school kids and they all seem similar even with different plots.
It may be that Sara knew Ernie Dell but I did't get that feeling from watching her reactions to the plot. Or she may have been one of his kids but doesn't know who the miniature killer is. I have no opinion about who the killer is, except the most obvious usually isn't it. And Sara does get emotionally involved in finding the suspects. She has compassion for the victims. All the CSI LV characters are very intense, sometimes creepy characters, which makes the show interesting. She's not the only one. As for the relationship between Gil and Sara, I agree with the posting that says it is totally unprofessional and out of character for him. I don't know about a Daddy figure, I think the writers just ran out of ideas. All these shows end up with people on the cast getting involved, and apparently the writers have never worked in the real world where relationhips between supervisors and subordinates are grounds for dismissal in most cases. Plus, while people do meet and fall in love, I think it's probably rarer than the TV world thinks it is. Horatio's relationship with Delko's sister was another ridiculous twist.

After thinking it over, I got say i think if the killer is someone on the team my vote would have to be for Nick.
He's not one of Dell's foster kids, but he does know Gil, so he knows that the miniatures would fascinate him, and Nick has been pretty shaky since the whole Grave Digger episode.
And i think he was a expecting more from Gil in terms of the whole rescues thing ,and getting very frustrated with the way things are going. He's been on edge the past two seasons.
I think if any CSI has a really good 'reason' to go after Gil it's Nick.

What about Dave being the MK? I find him rather creepy (odd to say the least). Sara and Grissom do make an odd pair, but as they say-there's a cover for every pot.

i find it totally believeable that sara is the mcsk. it fits her personality to a T. however, i have a theory of my own that it is in fact lady heather. but my preference would be sara and that her character leave the show. this new "romance" is so creepy it makes me sick.
