How are Jack's tattoos a big mystery? God this show is getting lamer by the second. Is everything going to have a special flashback? What next? Will Sayid's pretty pretty hair have it's own flashbacks too? Is he a modern day Samson? Does he share some connection with similarly curly haired Hurley? Does this all have a connection to the big mystery on the island? How to avoid frizzy hair without conditioner?

Ugh this is ridiculous.

Ahh the JACK!SHOW recommences yet again this week. It was nice to have a week off. Do the ABC people think that we are all so in love with JACK! that the biggest mystery that we all want answers to at the moment is what JACK'S! tattoos mean? Maybe, I've been focusing too much on the other, seemingly more important aspects of the show, when I really should have figured that the island revolves around JACK! and all shall be explained via his dumb Party of Five Tattoos.

Why did they even have to explain it? Can't a doctor get a tattoo? Only people with secret pasts get to have tattoos? Ridiculous. Although I'm all for the JackShow since I like Jack and barely tolerate anyone else on the show. But come on it's ridiculous with the tattoos. Of all the mysteries on the island that's the one that gets an answer to it?

i love lost, even if they dont resolve the big mysteries, i love watching the characters and the interactions. but i am afraid that MANY ppl are getting tired of this show, as it seems to be going nowhere fast. if it continues to lose viewers, then this show is a goner. that would be sad, amazing premise, brilliant acting.

Jack's tattoo is encoded with detailed instructions that will allow him to break out of the monkey cage and save his brother. Oh, and Locke is actually D.B. Cooper.

I think that maybe since he broke it off, that last seasons finale with penny searching for desmond maybe nil and void. as in she's not looking for him anymore.

But the universe does have a way of course correcting. So who's to say someone else isn't.

But Curt, didn't the jewelry shop lady say that Desmond was supposed to break up with Penny and not buy the ring. So when it looked like he was going to buy the ring and propose, she started telling him all about the course correcting stuff? This seemed to indicate to me that he was the one who broke it off in 1996. He ended up doing it anyway in the "flashback," so Penny is probably still looking for him.

I really hope they have more to offer tonight than the stupid tattoo history!! I re-watched the season 1 DVD's this weekend and played the "Pilot 1 & 2" episodes with the commentary by Lindelof and Cuse. In that commentary they talk about how Mathew Fox had the tattoos and they considered covering them with makeup but decided to leave them alone because it added depth to the character. If the big "secret" is just being told the crap they made up to explain them then there isn't going to be any real insight into the real mysteries of the island - just more filler. These guys had better wake up and pay attention to what the fans are saying or they'll find the ratings continue to drop to the point where the show gets canceled. If that happens they'll only have themselves to blame!!

I have some comments on these comments:

Nola - if you hate the show so much, why do you post and waste your time just to rag on it. Don't like the show, that's fine, but why bring everyone else down with you...

Just in General - So much criticism people, the first 2 eps out from the break have been FANTASTIC.

We find out that Juliet is a prisoner just like Jack, and that she met Ethan Rom outside of the island.

Desmond's flashback/flash-sideways was packed with Easter Eggs and Lost mythology. It involved Penny, an admitted central character to the whole arc of the series, the Widmore Foundation, which is connected to Hanso which of course is connected to the mysteries of the island.

Last season, yes it moved too slow, not enough was revealed. The mini-season, ditto. But now, we're humming along, and I think the producers have taken a hint from Heroes, with its intricate, quickly unfolding and satisfying storyline that they may need to speed this whole thing up a bit, and I think that is exactly what they are doing.

I do agree there are too many Jack-based episodes though. He is the main character and all, but we've gone into his past so much its getting dull. And his entire story is much less exciting than that of Locke, Hurley, or even a dead character like Libby. We've seen Jack, we know Jack, please move on.

Also I do agree to a certain extent that the 'big secret' of Jack's tattoo's...not so big. I'd say the fate of Cindy and the kidnapped children, which is set to be revealed, is much more compelling than some ink.

All in all, we need to lighten up and enjoy what is easily (in my mind at least) one of the most original and creative television shows that has ever graced the airwaves. It does unfold slowly, but we all need to just stick with it, because I do still believe the payoff will be worth all the effort...

Alright, just watched Stranger in a Strange Land. Tattoos, kind of explained. Back story, pointless sexy filler. Cindy and the kids...nothing.

Well I suppose 2 outta 3 ain't bad...
