Last year Craig did an episode the day after his father died. He canceled all his guests and he basically did a monologue for the whole hour, all about his dad. I'm sure it's on youtube somewhere; you should look for it if you haven't seen it. I'm not a regular watcher of Ferguson's show, but that was a classic moment in television, if you ask me. One of the best moments in late-night tv in many, many years.

I watch the show because he's a human, unlike Leno who is just a sick freak.

Craig is one of my favorites in the late night circuit. He's almost got an Eddie Izzard style of comedy to him that makes him entertaining to watch and his monologues are great!

I certainly understand what he's saying, and maybe I'm a heartless bastard, but I think everything is fair game for comedy. And even if you're going to hold back cause you feel bad about it, you should just ignore the issue. Making a statement like this that "in this case, we care, so we're not making jokes" implies that in other cases where they do make jokes, they don't care. Plus, to go out and say this seems like you want to call attention to how great your show is for their moral stance.

i think he will replace letterman or leno someday for sure, they're already prepping him for it.

i think conan will take over for leno, and ferguson for letterman. they are the next generation it seems.

It was a great monologue. It's really rare these days to hear honest, real, and from-the-heart discussion on talk shows. Letterman (my favorite) can do it, but does it rarely. Same with Stewart.

Also, if anyone liked this, they should check out Graig's novel - "Between the Bridge and the River". It's got great stuff in it.

The urge to attack the weak and vulnerable is a natural instinct, part of the survival of the fittest. However, that instinct is rooted in a time when the weak individual was part of your group and weeding out the weak was part of keeping your group or community strong and conserving scarce resources. This is probably at least partly what's behind other modern events like teens attacking and killing homeless people. As a behavior it served a purpose thousands of years ago, but there's no justification now for attacking the weak and vulnerable when it serves no purpose. It doesn't make us better. It doen't make our group stronger. Some people can rise above that instinct and some can't.

I only caught Graig's rerun last evening 14.3.07. I was diagnosed anAlcholic when 18 year old by British Army doctors. It took another 23 year before I stopped, which will be 34 years come September. Hope many really heard your message, tell people your situation you will be suprised with genuine friends.Lang may ye walk straight.
