Days of Our Lives star Alison Sweeney just landed a hosting gig with NBC. The network has placed her in Caroline Rhea's old spot as host of The Biggest Loser. Sweeney has played 'Sami Brady' on Days since 1993, but she has also been seen a lot elsewhere on NBC including guest appearances on Las Vegas and Friends, and a legendary freak-out when she was on Fear Factor (I would freak out too if I were placed in a coffin with cockroaches, nightcrawlers, and snakes). According to her biography, All the Days of My Life (So Far), the 30-year old actress has struggled with her weight for years.Caroline Rhea hosted the reality contest for three seasons but has moved on to other projects, so I'm assuming her departure was amicable. The next season of The Biggest Loser begins this fall. And Days fans shouldn't worry, Sami isn't going anywhere.
I know Caroline Rhea is a comedian and can be pretty funny. I haven't seen much of Alison's personality but I know she has a large fan following... will she make a good host?

She will. Not only is she personable,with a bubbly personality, but she's been also struggled with her weight and lost it the healthy way (through diet and exercise). I love Caroline, but she never really got to be herself on the show and I always wondered why she was hosting since she doesn't appear to be in the best physical condition. She doesn't look bad, but a Biggest Loser host should portray what the show preaches to it's viewers.

This is an interesting choice. She has historically been one gorgeous lady, a little heavy or not, so there is a glamour element there that was not there before.
We've been able to watch her grow up on TV over the years (decades?) and I think a lot of American men may well have a little interest in watching her in another capacity. A viewer "crush" as it were.
But as a daytime actress who is now a real-life mother, women may well relate to her a bit better than the did the previous host.
It's interesting to see her branch out like this. Perhaps she simply felt that this show would be a way to give back and bring attention to the subject.
I hope it works out. I look forward to seeing her in spandex.

I don't think the host wears spandex, there is an old Days episode where she walks around in lingerie. Oddly enough that episode was one of the reasons she started looking into ways to loose weight and successfully keep it off.

Alison is so incredible. I am surely one of her biggest fans!!!! Of course she will be awesome as a reality show host, she has amazing talent. I've never seen the show, but I will watch it now. Sami, you go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
