As regular TV viewers, we can easily list our favorite shows of all time. And we can name the shows on the air right now that we love and never miss. My list of the latter would include The Office, Heroes, Studio 60, The Late Show With David Letterman, Ugly Betty, and Jericho. And this season, I added another show to the list. One I had never really watched before.
Yeah, I think I had seen an episode before, but I never really watched the show. I think other shows I liked were on at the same time, I didn't want to get caught up in another medical drama, and I think that episode I saw wasn't one of the better ones and it didn't make me want to tune into the show again. But then a funny thing happened. Last year I started watching the show late at night, after the Friends reruns on a local station, and I completely fell in love with the show. And it's not just that I "like" the show now, it has actually become one of my favorite shows of all-time. I watch the episodes and I think "how the hell did I miss this show all these years? What was I thinking?"
Do you have a show like that?

Scrubs is that same show for me. I saw it on Comedy Central and instantly fell in love. I've now seen every episode.
The same thing happened, to a lesser extent, with That 70s Show and FX reruns. I don't love that show like I do Scrubs, but I did "discover" it after it had already been on the air on FOX for 7 years.

Arrested Development. I never saw any episode until they began showing reruns on G4. I missed out.

The EXACT same thing happened to me. I put on a scrubs marathon while i was playing on the computer, and I wasn't even really paying attention to it. All of a sudden I was totally sucked in. This happened like 2 months ago, and now I tune in every week. I always thought it was just another medical show, but its unlike anything else on TV.

I had seen an episode here and there the past few years but it never caught my interest till just recently when i decided i would watch all of season one and see how i liked it...Well i found out i LOVED it.

Never watched an episode of the West Wing while it was on. I picked up the first season on a whim, now the wife and I are hooked. We watched the first 5 seasons in a month and a half. I am currently holding off on the last two seasons, until the summer rerun doldrums set in.

X-Files. Wasn't a Sci-fi fan. I didn't watch one episode the first four years it was on. Then it went into syndication, and I was entranced.
I've had a similar experience with House. I hate medical dramas, the only one I think I ever got into was St. Elsewhere back in the 80's. Missed the first two seasons. Then, last summer, my mom started watching the reruns on Fox. I had never seen a mainstream tv series that dealt with humanism and ethics on such high level before. I am a now a BIG fan and won't miss an episode.

Scrubs is one for me. At the time I had seen too many medical shows (ER, Grey's Anatomy, etc) and gotten sick of them. Then my roommate forced me to watch an episode and was hooked. I work in a hospital, and people really do like G.A. and ER, but when I've tried to describe why I prefer Scrubs, I get the deer in the headlights look most of the time. Oh well.
The janitor is my hero though.

Hell yeah, and it was Scrubs.
Saw it a few times, had to see every single season.
Absolute favorite show.
Scrubs > House > Grey's

I just caught up with all 4 seasons of "The Shield" on DVD since I just ignored it all my life. A year ago the same thing happend with "Gilmore Girls". I always thought it was crap without seeing a single episode. But my a girl-friend of mine loved it and I thought I would get her the first season on DVD for her birthday. Before I wrapped it I just wanted to check what this show was about and I was instantly hooked. I saw 4 seasons in less than two weeks ;-)

I've loved "Scrubs" since the beginning. A similar thing happened to me with "The West Wing" though. I joined Netflix, saw the show listed and thought I'd see what the big deal was. I now own every season on DVD. My fiancee also got me sucked into "Grey's Anatomy."

Definitely Arrested Development for me. I heard that it was good but was kind of annoyed by all the praise. I tuned in for one episode and found it kind of weird- somewhat funny, but not deserving of all the hype. Then I watched a Friday night marathon of the second season, and was hooked by the end of the night. Unfortunately, it was cancelled a few months later. *sigh* It's definitely the funniest comedy in the history of television (in my opinion). RIP, Arrested...

For me it was two shows. I some how managed to miss the first four seasons of both The X Files and The West Wing. Fortunately The X Files was rerunning constantly around that time so I was able to catch up. But talk about the wrong time to start watching The West Wing - right when Sorkin left. Fortunately I was able to watch the episodes from the pilot straight through so by the time I hit the less good seasons I was already invested in the show. Wait, is "fortunately" the word I want?

Oh, and how could I forget NewsRadio. I never saw it until it went into syndacation. And then I saw a couple of episodes and went from being "enh, it's okay" to totally in love with the show.

That show for me was Sports Night. I am not a sports fan by any stretch of the imagination so I thought that there would be nothing in that show that would interest me when I read about it in TV Guide when it was on ABC in '98 and '99. I didn't even give it a chance. When it started being on late nights on Comedy Central after a lot of shows like the Critic that I adored, I started watching it. Anything on Comedy Central I give a chance to. Well I ended up falling in love with it, got the whole series on DVD when it became available, and can't stop watching it. I watch the full run of the show all the way through about twice a year. It one of the only personal things, and the only DVD besides Eddie Izzard that I take with me when I travel long-term (like when I went abroad or when I did my externship from culinary school).

West Wing. I knew that everyone said it was great and amazing but it just seemed like SUCH a boring premise! Political mumbo-jumbo? Congress battles? Puh-lease! Then I got Bravo. And I started to watch a few episodes. Then I started to watch EVERY episode (it was on like 10 times a day). I was sooooo hooked and I was traumatized to see it go.

For me it was Buffy. I didn't see a single episode until after it went off the air (funnily, we watched Angel from the beginning - go figure). But then I caught in syndication, and was hooked. I watched the entire seven-year run in about five months on FX.
Also Arrested Development and House, both of which I didn't pick up on until the second season. But that's what DVDs are for!

Mine was Charmed. I caught the season finales (The one where Chris sends Leo away)on TNT on Monday night, and was like "OMG! What the heck?" So I called a couple of people I knew who watched it religously, and got the scoop. I started watching it that next Sunday in re runs, and caught up on TNT.

Arrested Development- my hubby and I usually have a list af potentials at the beginning of the season. We watched the first few minutes of the pilot and shrugged it off. A few weeks later I was babysitting, these folks didn't have cable, and the Canadian affiliate was showing a 2 hour block of AD, so I watched it out of boredom. I arrived home to discover Fox was starting to show the same thing in a few minutes. We gave it a second chance, got all of our friends hooked and agonized over Fox's jerking around of this comic gem. "sigh"
