Things are getting interesting for Joe Rogan, stand-up comedian and former host of Fear Factor. First, he was banned from The Comedy Store for getting up on stage and calling comedian Carlos Mencia a fraud (see the NSFW video here). Now, his agent has dropped him. On his personal website, Rogan explains that he and Mencia were represented by the same guy. That agent called Rogan yesterday to tell him that he had been forced to choose between the two clients, and he chose to stick with Carlos Mencia. And that's not all. Via this agent, Rogan was told that Mencia is demanding an apology. Rogan laughs it off, saying, "I told them that was f***ing hilarious, and said it's been fun working with them."
So, what do you think? Should Rogan apologize?

Rogan should apologize and demand the Mencia apologize. Mencia's apology will be suspiciously similar to Rogan's.

of course rogan shouldn't apologize, the only reason that the agent is choosing mencia is because he is making more money right now. it would have been nice if someone with a little more comedic credibility challenged mencia but that doesn't mean that mencia isn't a hack.

It's a damned shame that Rogan is getting the shaft (so far) in this deal. He called him out, plain and simple. Mencia is too sore, too well supported and too stubborn to take the blow.

Uch, Mencia is a fraud and anyone with even a pinky toe in the industry knows that Mencia is just a lying standup act stealing doofus. Just because Comedy Central execs think he is funny and innocent people watching his show don't know his act is stolen, doesn't mean anything.
Mencia should apologize to the untold numbers of comedians he has ripped material of off.

No, he shouldn't apologize. God bless him for having a spine in a spineless business.
And homerj312, how does rogan not have comedic credibility? Have you actually ever seen his standup, or are you basing that on his TV stuff? Because those are two separate thungs.

you got me, I am basing it on his TV appearances and I haven't seen him do stand up. i do find most of his tv work especially painful (i'll give him early newsradio but that wasn't funny because of him) and it is hard for me to believe he is a good stand up comic but i've been wrong before.
i feel like he probably plays up the whole italian machismo stereotype in his stand up which i can't imagine not being tough to watch, but hey maybe he has some good bits, but i'm sure i'd still take some live Stella anyday.

Hell no Rogan shouldn't apologize. He may be the only one in the business balsy enough to speak his mind and deal with the repercussions. Mencia is a joke, his schtick is old and lame. I hope more comedians come out to support Rogan. I'd like to see him come out on top on this thing.

I'm with everyone else. Rogan shouldn't apologize. I'm glad someone is being so vocal about Mencia. I've always heard he steals material, so I like seeing someone have the balls to call him on it. I've never cared much about Joe Rogan, but at least I respect him some now for being so honest.

From Rogan's side, there is no reason why he should apologize, as for mencia's side, who the hell cares. The agent thing...well, you cant blame the agent as there are still millions who dont know of mencia's..tendencies, but hopefully these acts will help spread awareness. Tell a friend

he may not be your cup of tea, but I suggest... nay recommend seeing Rogan's standup homer. He's smart as hell and funny as hell to boot.
But I do understand he's not everyone's favorite standup. But he and I have a lot of the same views and I think he's probably one of the funniest comedians around today. Though I did hate him too after he came on the Man show. But you can't attribute it's failure to just him. That goes to the writing staff and Stanhope and the fact that the Carolla/Kimmel team was lighting in a bottle sort of thing.

If Rogan wants the people to see the truth he should probably start a blog and present the evidence in a logical timeline. Aside from the fact that Carlos Mencia is known as a stand-up comic before anything else is working to Rogan's detriment. Had Rogan been smart enough to avoid working outside of the stand-up industry, especially on Reality TV, he might have had a fighting chance. Now that the public has established him with a crappy reality show and an image that isn't remotely related to stand-up his credibility in this argument is kinda shot no matter if he is right or wrong. He has to present all of his evidence to the public with a time line that is easily established so he can gain support.
As far as him apologizing to Mencia is concerned? If i were him I wouldn't do jack until I had my case CLEARLY played out for the public. I'd then offer a public apology after having received one.
Anyone wonder what Comedy Central is thinking right now about Carlos' show?

How can people possibly assume a comedian sucks because of what they did on a reality TV show? Its not like the TV shows he's been on have been his original concept. That's like assuming an athlete sucked because of their color commentary. And just so you know, he doesn't use his "Italian Machismo". That might be because he's Irish, and from Boston.

Are you kidding???!!!!! Should Joe apologize to whom and for what? I think NOT!!! If anything Carlos Mencia aka Ned Holness owes Joe an apology. Your lead in to this topic is a little misleading. Joe was onstage introducing another comic and called Carlos “Mansteelya.” Then Carlos grabbed the mic from the comic that was going to go on and confronted Joe. There are quite a few audio and video files out there so you can hear/see for yourself that Carlos steels jokes from other comics.
Here is the link to “The Mikey Show” in San Diego where Carlos is “defending himself saying that he never steals material, and then he tries to be funny, and goes ahead and steals someone’s material. The DJ, Mikey,..., says Carlos will never be back on his show again.

you sver notice that all over the internet, whenever someone writes anything about Joe Rogan, his cronies from his forum show up to comment? Don't believe me? Look for the telltale signs. Dogmatic comments like Ned Holness, Carlos “Mansteelya.” , etc....most of you never heard those terms before, but this won't be the last time you hear them.....Rogan, and his boytoy, Redban, gogle "Joe Rogan" several times a day...a bit of an ego problem...when they find anything written about Joe, they send everyone from Joe's forum to skew the average comments on the subject...so, 40 to 100 people form Joe's forum are responsible for 100 percent of all comments pro-Joe and anti-Carlos Mencia all over the internet...just look for the limited, dogmatic, responses that Joe's people make on all these comments....any responses that you see anywhere on the internet about Joe are the work of Joe, and Joe's boytoy, sending his moronic followers over to comment....let's see how long my comment takes to elicite a response from Joe's dogmatic minnions....read their dogmatic responses....not very original because they all share one brain between them.

Interesting, although a somewhat illiterate response, Joemama. Since I have the brain today, and happened to stumble across this article while looking for something else, I'll go ahead and respond to your nearly month old rantings.
It's amusing that you would try to paint everyone who happens to think Joe is right on this issue with the same brush. Joe never asked me to do anything. Oh. Wait. He did ask his fans to visit The Comedy Store and have some great laughs even after they banned him. The same place he bought the sound system for out of his own pocket. The same place where he performed gratis numerous times.
While his agent at the time may have dropped him it is no surprise that within five minutes he was part of the William Morris agency.
As for that forty to fifty people comment, that you kept stressing, clearly you have not visited his website or myspace page. It is very obvious that Joe Rogan has a great deal more fans than the numbers you claim. That's very clear by the way his shows fill up everywhere he goes.
It's typical of humans that have no moral or intellectual ground to stand on to intiate insults. This, of course, leads to calling into the question the sexual orientation of your target much as Ned "Mencia" did that night when he called Joe up on stage after grabbing the microphone from another comic. It is the sign of desperation when confronted with the truth. To try to invoke anger in order to deflect the line of conversation where you cannot defend yourself without lying.
George Lopez had one of Ned's HBO specials taken off the air. Roughed Ned up a little backstage once too. Why? Because Ned used thirteen minutes of Georges material in that special.
Ned "Carlos" is a good performer. He really is. But he is a thief.
I have to courier the shared brain to the next Joe Rogan fan now.
Have a nice day!
