The gossipers over at New York Daily News have a great tidbit about Tina Fey dissing Aaron Sorkin at a recent event. She reportedly told the crowd at the Writers Guild Awards, "I hear Aaron Sorkin is in Los Angeles wearing the same dress- but longer, and not funny."As the kids on That '70s Show would say, "Oooooh! BURN! BURN!"
Tina Fey was probably just being funny, but the girl definitely has earned the right to gloat. While 30 Rock and Studio 60 are both behind-the-scenes of sketch comedy shows, Fey's show prevails. 30 Rock is getting funnier and funnier, while Studio 60 is getting worse and worse. I stopped caring about Matt and Harriet in the second episode of Studio 60. And I can't wait to see Alec Baldwin each Thursday night!

Good point, Alicia.
Sounds like sour grapes from Tina Fey...
I've watched 30 Rock a few times and I just find it not funny, with a few exceptions from Baldwin.
Studio 60 has been getting a pretty bad rap here on TV Squad, but I do not agree with most of it. I like the show and I am going to keep watching it.

Sounds like sour grapes from sore loser Sorkin fans. Face it, Studio 60 is awful and should have been mercy killed after a few episodes.
If I want to be preached to/lectured at, I'll rejoin the Church.
I disliked Fey on SNL, on 30 Rock she is likeable and funny.

While Studio 60 isn't great let's look who it's coming from. She's not very funny either, and should keep her mouth shut because her show isn't doing much better.
And it's not sour grapes, what she said was just lame, childish and not needed. I hope both shows get canned, but NBC will most likely stick with the 30 minutes of unfunny, untalented, badly writen show.

Looks like Sorkin was wise to avoid humor in Studio 60. None of you can take a joke anyway.

How about sour grapes from all the commenters? Seemed like a harmless little joke.
I like both shows. Probably 30 Rock a little more, but Sudio 60 has enough flashes of brilliance to keep me coming back. I thought thought was funny, and I don't think Tina Fey takes the comparisons between the shows all that serious.
Remember when Studio 60 was being hyped before the premiere, and 30 Rock did those ads where Alec Baldwin shows up and says "when do I get to meet Aaron Sorkin?" and then is dismayed to learn that he was on some other show about sketch comedy? I think that shows that the 30 Rock people have a sense of humor about it.

I think the first poster got it right. One show is an hour-long drama, the other is a half hour sitcom. To me it sounds like she was just having fun with the fact that so many people insist on comparing their shows, even though they have only superficial similarities.

I thought the comment was pretty witty (sorry for the rhyme), and I'm a fan of both shows.

It's funny how everyone hates on Studio 60 but they know every plot point and watch every week so they can tell everyone how bad it is.

I seriously don't get the hype about 30 Rock. It's just not funny. Not that I'm saying Studio 60 is funny, but as it's been said before... it's a drama.
I gave up on 30 rock five episodes into it (it was a struggle to get that far), but I will be a loyal Studio 60 fan for quite a while.
And I have to give credit to Fey for the joke,.. that was funny. But seriously, that was the best joke she's done in several years.

Reminds me of the comment Ricky Gervis during his set on the Comdey Central telathon a few months ago. His closing comment (being paraphrased here): Steve Carell is going to come out right after me and do the same exact routine excpet it'll be funnier.

It just sounds like a funny line to me. It's really amazing to me that the media works so hard to make a story out of nothing.

And if Sorkin said: "I hear Tina Fey is in New York wearing the same pants- but tighter, and funny." - would you guys have a problem with that?

Studio 60 is painful as drama because Sorkin doesn't get comedy, so his material for the show within the show is terrible. Then his characters constantly lecture each other about how comedy works, using the limited understanding of it that Sorkin has. His previous shows have ben a lot better. And 30 Rock is just brilliant. The only irrititation is that we are supposed to believe that Tina Fey is not hot, when she is actually the sexiest woman on television.

Actually, I look forward to 30 Rock now more than any other Thursday show (just about any show save Veronica Mars). It's the one show I know will give me at least one belly laugh. Alec Baldwin's had 5 or 6 of the best lines spoken on TV this year. Yep, even better than Veronica Mars and that's nigh impossible to believe.

I love both of these shows. I would probably give the nod to Studio 60, just because the whole cast is strong. The cast is great for 30 Rock, but the only break-out performer is Baldwin.

First, for the similarity of their topics, S60 and 30 Rock are two entirely different genre shows.
Second, as I've said many times before, I'm sick of all the S60 bashing that I see all over TV Squad. I think there is absolutely nothing to fix about this show. Period. Sorkin dialogue is as sharp as always, and the cast is great (Sarah Paulson is fantastic. I LIKE the chemistry between her and Perry. The relationship between Perry and Whitford is great. The secondary cast -- including Lucy Davis and DL Hughley -- are smart and funny. Even Steven Weber and Ed Asner are great when they are utilized.)
Just because S60 isn't doing as well gives people the right to believe that there is something wrong with this show. Maybe (consider this) people are just not watching this good tv show. It's happened before. Everybody raves about 30 Rock just because it is doing well. I personally don't find it all that funny and can't watch it. Do I go around bashing it though? No.
I wonder what you all would be saying about S60 if it were actually pulling down quality numbers? My only regret about the S60 (and maybe this reflects current TV tastes) is that the show that is winning that time slot is the campy over-the-top crap mess that CSI: Miami has become. Let's face it: CSI Miami is a 21st century parody of Miami Vice that has become a "worldwide phenomenon." Yeah, just remember that even "Baywatch" and "Miami Vice", at one time, were "worldwide phenomenons" as well.

What she said isn't a joke because jokes are funny.
And why does everyone think what I said was funny? I'm not even a huge fan of Studio 60 and still think what she said was lame.
