(S03E13) I'll be first to admit (and remind some of you) how disappointed I was to hear of the Dean O'Dell murder being the final "big" mystery of the series. But hey, I think tonight's episode may have given me some hope for what's in store for the future -- semi-mini mysteries, spanning two episodes! Now this is more like it.
As this episode was shaping up, I had no idea that this would be a two-parter, so I was starting to gear up for it being not-so-great. We actually get a decent amount of big mystery details along with a decent semi-mini mystery. And hey, we get to see Wallace for once!
It's about time they get Logan out of that hotel room, because I was getting really sick of seeing his sorry self mope around the show. The writers did a good job of finally digging him out of his hole while keeping a sense of humor about it.
The young girl cooped up with Logan had a great scene in the elevator with Veronica, giving a performance that puts obsessed fans of this show to shame. Well, some obsessed fans. Is it just me or did she remind any of you of the little girl in Adventures in Babysitting?
Dick getting married was a fun surprise, though I actually hope they can do something more with that and not just leave us to see them quickly getting their marriage annulled. I dunno, there's just something about Dick's character that never seems to get old. Hell he acts like a lot of guys I knew in college, so maybe that hits home with me a lot easier than some rich kid living in a swanky hotel room.
As for the big mystery, it looks like Keith and Veronica are making quite a bit of headway. They've at least easily proven that something went down in that hotel room that's not adding up. I'm not sure yet if I believe O'Dell's wife is guilty, though, but I'm still pointing in the direction of her son.
It looks pretty clear that the plans for Veronica's future are with that intern program she's now closer to advancing into, which would definitely make for a great change for the series. But will we see another new season to show us how that develops?
Quote of the episode:
Dick: "We're thinking of going to the swim team's beach blanket blow-out. You can wear your shirt that says 'I'd rather be crying'."

At this point I'd be happy if Mac killed off O'dell - at least she'd get a little bit more screen time.
As to O'dell son, I'm inclined to agree. If for no other reason, the show-briefly and then never mention again aspect is quite the alarm bell.
Finally, I am such a geek. I was disappointed that Logan wasn't already hooked up with a Wii.

Vote three on a Wii...or a 360, or ANYTHING newer than a GameCube. Of course, I saw it as a missed product placement opportunity...more money in means we may actually get to see more than 30 seconds of Wallace, Mac, Cliff or Vinny. BTW, thank you producers for bringing Cliff into the episode tonight...its funny, but with recurring characters umm, recurring less and less frequently, I actually cheered when I saw him! I'm absolutely sick of Logan, but at least this week was better than last, and hopefully we'll be spared the LoVe crap for a few more episodes - and thank god they didn't do a Valentine's Day episode.

"You're not still looking for the fire, right?" was my favorite line.
And obviously the guy above Josh's bunk is significant. Unless he was someone I was supposed to recognize and I didn't. Also, when Josh quit the team at the beginning, there was an assistant coach who tried to stop him, and he started to give Josh an excuse or something as to why the coach flipped out on him. I bet that turns out to matter too. As well as the autistic brother. Argh, so much to think about... I love this show.

Aw man, I really did mean to mention the GC/Wii thing in my review and totally missed it. Yes, I'm a geek, too.

Does anyone know who the little girl was? She looks familar to me, I think she was on Joan of Arcadia, maybe, as God?

Three Cheers for Wallace. How can you have a sidekick in a show without well.... him being on the show? So happy to see him back. And yes I am excited about the 2 part mini mystery's. I'm just trying to figure out how Lamb is going to be charging V with aiding an escape with the use of a Peanut Butter Cookie? Were there tiny razor blades in them? And maybe there's some crumbs left for V to escape?

Logan could have a Wii, she just asked to play the GameCube. Maybe she didn't know that the Wii plays the Cube games.... ah well. Mario Kart was ace.

My money's on Richard Grieco instead of the son. I think Dean O'Dell's reaction when the killer walked into his office would have been different than "What are you doing here?" if it was his son. Is it his biological son? That line makes me think it was Richard Grieco.
Why couldn't they kill off a crappy character instead of Dean O'Dell? He was the highlight of the fall episodes. Then again, the show has been a lot better since his murder.

The little girl was in a episode of "CSI-Las vegas" last season. She played an 180 IQ girl, who blamed herself of a murder. She was really good.
