(S05E15) Well that was unexpected. Normally, if I read something along the lines of, "a team member dies after being shot in the head" in my TV Guide, then I expect... well, a death. Technically, the episode description wasn't lying. Delko was dead for a few minutes. That is, until one of the doctors slammed a syringe of epinephrine into his chest. So I suppose the more accurate episode description should have read, "a team member dies after being shot in the head... and then he comes back to life." So either Delko is some sort of Dracula hybrid or the doctors at Miami General are just good at what they do. I'm going with the vampire angle. CSI: Transylvania would be freakin' sweet.Overall, this was a pretty tense episode. Lots of drama surrounding Eric's condition. It seems that, despite surviving, his brain suffered some severe trauma. He still recognizes people but his memories are all sorts of messed up. The big one? He thinks Marisol is alive. So it's unclear as to how much of a role he'll play over the rest of the season.
Based on the preview for next week, it looked like he was out of the hospital. His head was shaved but he was smiling. No indication as to whether or not he's back at work, but I'm going to bet that the writers take the easy route with this and handle it just like when Wolfe took that nail in the eye last season. Delko will be afflicted with memory loss for a while, he'll mess up a few things in the lab, and before long the issue will just fade away. I could be wrong though. This could be a set up for something big to come.
Elsewhere, I liked how the Clavo Cruz story wrapped itself up. We finally found out what he was up to two years ago before H put him away: smuggled diamonds. Speaking of that, and I could be wrong here, but wasn't the jewelry store that Clavo sold the diamonds to the same one where Speedle was shot? It looked like the exact the same place.
One other thing I was looking for during the episode was who got lines in Delko's absence. Valera seemed to gain the most screen time out of it. She had a few conversations with Boa Vista and just seemed to be far more involved that she normally is. I'm not a big fan of her and wish that Cooper had gotten more to say, but it's interesting to see who gets tapped when a main player is out of the picture.
Now, with this huge sweeps story arc out of the way, I'm hoping that we return to some of the other plots that had been developing earlier in the season. What ever happened to that city-sponsored documentary that Wolfe was filming? Hopefully we'll find out.

I'm seriously about to give up on this show. Not that I watch it because it's good (heh... no way), but because it's entertaining. Now, however, even the entertainment factor seems to be wanning. The thing that bugs me the most is the time flow. In the other CSIs we at least get the impression that time is moving forward-- in Miami, every case is solved in pretty much a single day, which is totally unrealistic. Oy.
I guess I'm glad Delko didn't die. *shrug* And none of the previews I read said someone died-- just 'seriously wounded'.

My dog can play injured better than Delko can. Talk about stupid. Just around the middle of it all I was like "just die " and everything will be much better. Personally-I don't care if he has memory loss. If it happened in real life they most likely would make him retire but since this is TV he is able to work-whatever!! This episode pretty much tanked and I was left not caring about anyone. this is why I give credit to the original-I actually care about them. This hamfest Miami needs to go

I've given up on this show, because it's become all about glitz and not about science and evidence. I mean, Boa Vista and Calleigh always dress far too nicely for a crime scene, and while I can forgive some inaccuracy, lately they've been just making stuff up (like tachyon emitters on ST:TNG).

I used to watch this show live every week, but this year I've had a serious DRV crunch - Six Feet Under on Bravo (it's new to me), Studio 60, and CSI:M. I haven't really watched it at all this season. And I haven't really missed it. I think I still have a few new episodes in my DVR somewhere that I never bothered to watch.
It all just seems to boil down to t&a, makeup, hair, pastel fashions and, of course, sunglasses. I guess it's good in sort of a Baywatch meets Miami Vice sort of way.

The show made NO sense! Did the writers go on strike?? I am a huge fan of CSI MIAMI and found this pill a little hard to swallow! Friends were texting me throughout the show saying how horrible it was. I do not like the Natalia character and last night there she was almost in every freaking scene. Why did Clavo just give up?? How did he get away after shooting his father, where was the cops? How can the father die with a bullet to the gut and Eric lives with 2 gunshot wounds and 1 to the head? What was up with the kidnap victim, and the security guard?? Did anyone else feel Ryans sadness was genuine??

Horrible, horrible episode. Just trying to get ratings but I guess they forgot to include the writers and the acting. I wanted Delko to die along with Boa Vista-that would have made this whole painful episode worth it.

CSI Miami is not the #1 show in the world. If it was it would be #1 and it's not. CSI still gets higher ratings along with Grey's-get it right!! It's a dumb show with bad writing, bad acting and overall cheesy and flashy.

Actually Drew, I hate to burst your bubble, but CSI: Miami really is the number one show in the world. It's not #1 in the US, but the world? You bet.

I am glad someone else thought that was the same jewelry store that Speed was shot in.
This injury seems a little harder to sweep under the rug than Wolf's eye injury. This injury seems like a stupid move, if Delko is going to continue as a major player on the show.
It is strange how they can have some of the most interesting plots interwoven with some of the stupidest I have seen since the Hoff was running up and down the beach. Maybe they should rename the show "CSI: Baywatch" and have the Hoff's Mitch Buchanan take the place of Erik Delko on team H.

Hate to burst yours Jonathon- it says "CSI: Miami's dominance doesn't go into too much detail about how they know it's the number one show, other than saying that it's the most popular show on a German cable network". Maybe you should check your facts!!

I love CSI:Miami. I love the original CSI. My wife and I gave up on CSI:NY. Gary Sinise's character is the only one even remotely interesting on that show and I just feel that NY is overdone. After NYPD Blue, what was left?
But, I felt that Clavo gave up way too easy. I wanted a big Tony Monatana ending with a huge showdown between H and Clavo with guns a blazing. I wanted another Rio ending when Delco and H went to get Marisol's killer.
I was kind of let down. But, I love Caruso and the way he has created H.

You mean as a joke? As a cartoon idiot who uses sunglasses and awkward stances to substitute for acting effort? Caruso USED to act - now he's a parody of the character he created. he's hands-down the hammiest, most annoying and idiotic actor on TV these days.
CSI: Miami might be a three star show if it weren't for how much ham Caruso throws around the set every week. OK, maybe a 2.5 star show. Still...it's Caruso's H that brings it down to a half-star and unintentional comedy.

I was a faithful watcher of CSI Miami as I am of the original. I don't watch NY, it never hooked me. I now find CSI Miami unwatchable and embarrassing. Mainly, CSIs are not detectives and they don't go to crime scenes with guns drawn to the extent that these guys do. We see a little of that on Las Vegas but not as much. Having two of them shot in Miami is totally unrealistic and having Delko, who just lost his sister, also get shot, is a waste of air space. Plus, we had Brass shot on Las Vegas and barely surviving. Enough. The way Miami is shown now with strange slow motion action and split screen, the constant overhead showing the beach (which is NOT Miami and it has clouds a lot of the time) it takes itself too seriously. I also dislike the Wolfe character intensely. It's a shame because I really liked the first 2. I like Tripp, I like Duquesne and I can tolerate Caine and Delko. The rest are forgettable.
