In what seems like a no-brainer idea, NBC Universal is partnering with Sierra Online on a high-def, space combat, Battlestar Galactica game. Who doesn't want to fly a Viper or a Raider? Players will be able to choose which side they fight for while taking part in both single-player, and multi-player, versions of the game. The big news of the announcement is that the game will be available in the Xbox Live Marketplace. This is the first original Hollywood-licensed property for the still growing service. To kick off the promotion, fans can now get Battlestar gamer pics and theme packs from the Marketplace. Thankfully, for those of you that haven't jumped on the 360 bandwagon yet, the game will also be available for the PC and downloadable from SciFi.com, NBC.com, and Sierra.com. It is slated for a fall release.
Sierra will be adding sound from the series and was able to visit the set to get the look and details right. They also have secured likeness rights to talent from the show, and mention the possibility of the actors providing radio chatter for the in game play. The article also talks about the possibility of adding episodes of the show to the Xbox service.

David,
Man, you bitter much?
I actually look forward to the game. A galactica flight sim would be awesome. And if it sucks? Guess what, no one is making you play it.
As for a 4th season, months ago RDM stated that SciFi is waiting for ratings on the return of the show to decide on 4th season. The decision will be announced by mid Feburary.
However, rumors from sources that are usually 100% spot on have stated that 4th season is a go. A 2 hour movie (the same as the proposed DVD movie) and then 13 episodes. Yes, only 13. But that isn't even the kicker. SciFi has realized that going up against broadcast TV in the fall was a huge mistake so the 4th season won't air until Jan 2008.

I'm just saying I rather have a great TV show than a shity game. It's not like they are gonig to make the game amazing otherwise it wouldn't be on Xbox MP.
And there have been numberous reports saying that the show would be picked up by mid January, the end of January. Time is running out to pick the show up. i don't care if the next two seasons are only 13 episodes long, as long as we get a correct ending. Less episodes means less filler because the first season so far has been the best overall with very few weak episodes.

I guess I just dont see how you are equating a game being announced to causing season 4 to be less (or not happening).
As I said. NOT RUMOR. RDM said last fall scifi was waiting for early ratings and would decide by MID FEB. Last I checked we haven't reached that point yet.

And my point was that rumours mean nothing and that everyone knows that it will be desided soon because the actors contracts are up on the 18th.
I hope season 4 happens and that Xena Cylon comes back.

What RDM has stated about the deciding time IS NOT RUMOR. Why can't you get that through your thick skull?

Why are you such a fucking rude jackass?
Did you read the seond part of what I said? No, of course not. Everyone knew for awhile now that they would have to pick it up by mid Febuary because of the actors cantracts. The actors contracts are up in a week! So this is Mid-Febuary and theyare cutting it VERY close!

"Why are you such a fucking rude jackass?"
I could say the very same thing about you and your constant need to try to push my buttons.
Last minute decisions near the end of an actors contract is nothing new in TV. Happens all the damn time.
And if you seem to know that they would be making this decision by that point why did you feel the need to whine about a video game and bitch about no announcment?

I look forward to hearing more about the game closer to its release to see how it's shaping up, so I'm optimistic and yes I would like to pilot a viper, which makes me even more of a geek. =)
Looks like you are right on the money about s4 Akbar, as well as the movie. Thanks for the heads up...

Because they should have annouced a season 4 first and then some shity game after that.
And of course Akbar is right, the creator of the show said that movie months and months ago and any fan of the show knows that. We shall see if the 13 episodes part is right because they might be shooting for 100 episodes. The mini series and first season are 19 "episodes", the season and third are 20, plus two for the movie and then two more 20 episode seasons would lead to 101.

There's always one. If, the game is "shity", if. It's barely been conceptualized at this point so any commentary negative or otherwise is premature at bes,t not to mention nonsensically reactionary as opposed to anticipatory. The game is a separate entity as far as the shows renewal is concerned. Universal are simply partnering Sierra, who will be developing the game. Also, BSG is not yours, it does not assume ownership, except under RDM and Co. and as a fan I would hope that one could appreciate that any good press for the show would be held in a positive light.
Rumor and speculation about the movie and S4 are but speculation until we have confirmation of such. I was commending Akbar on disseminating, in a clear unaffected manner, the information as it currently stands.
