Several past Idol finalists (including Jennifer Hudson) have complained about the treatment they received during their American Idol experience. But don't count Season Five's Bucky Covington as a member of the "Sour Grapes Club." In a recent interview, Bucky talks positively about his own experience. And unlike the others, he seems to get it: your Idol experience doesn't guarantee you superstardom. However, it does give you tons of exposure in front of millions of potential fans. And it is what you make of it.
Regarding recent controversy about the show being crueler this year, Bucky believes Simon is simply being the same old Simon. And Bucky is grateful for Simon's nastiness. He said, "Because of him being mean, millions of people watch that show...So I say 'thank you' for being mean. You turned on a lot of people to this show, and because of that a lot of great things happened to me."
You know, I really wasn't a big fan of Bucky's (I'm not into country music), but after reading his comments, I gained a new found respect for him. You gotta like a guy who rolls with the punches and doesn't whine about being a victim. I may not like his music, but I at least understand now why his easy-going personality made him so popular last year.
For those of you who are into Bucky's music, you'll be happy to know that his self-titled debut album is scheduled for release on April 17.

I'm not Idol fan, but I love country music. His single "Different World" is a great song, looking forward to more of his music.
Idol has brought us (country music fans) Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, and now Bucky Covington; so I thank them for that. Very talented artists.

It's refreshing to finally see someone who appreciated their experience instead of all the sour grapes of ex-contestants. Many of the people auditioning would trade their souls for a chance at stardom. The complainers need to grow up and get over it. That's life.

I beg to differ. Some former contestants like Jennifer Hudson may have had a bad experience on American Idol. So that's why she was venting about it. But I like the more positive reactions about the other alumni's experience on there. I am pleased that Bucky Covington will be having a new album out on April 17th. He reminds me of Alan Jackson when he started out--that rawness in his country music sound. I recall Bucky's humor and aw-shucks approach. I know he's going to bring some of it to his songs and performances.
