ABC and Oprah's production company, Harpo Productions, will team up for a special about how Oprah built a school in South Africa for disadvantaged girls. The special will chronicle Oprah's five-year effort to get the school built. The school is called The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy (did she really have to name it after herself?). It's pretty sweet- with computer and science labs, a library, theater and "wellness center". It opened up in January after Oprah personally selected the 152 students who would be lucky enough to attend. The upcoming ABC special also includes a long list of celebrity appearances including Tina Turner, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Sidney Poitier, Chris Tucker and Spike Lee.
Building a Dream: The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy will air at 10 pm on Monday, February 26th. That is the last day of this month's ratings period.

I think you got the name of the special wrong. It's actually called, "Oprah Winfrey: Building a Dream: The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy starring Oprah Winfrey brought to you by HARPO productions-Africa and Oprah Winfrey."

It's funny how Oprah is the leader of the soccer moms of America - but is soo far from the group in reality...She has absolutely nothing in common with the audience that puts her on a pedestal.

I think it is GREAT that Ms. Winfrey wanted to help the children in Africa get an education, especially the oposite sex. Everyone in the world deserves an education. I love you Oprah. From RB in Ohio

NO, EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH IT. America wastes enough money on schools and our kids are no brighter. America is greedy and we already have too much that we wastes. So yeah if she is going to share her millions, it might as well be in an area that is lacking. Plus, these are her own people!

I am sick of Oprah this and Oprah that. I think people are getting tired of her and her phony ways. Actually I think she is quite a racist, and the thought of people suggesting that she run for president is laughable.

She is a outstanding woman, and very smart! She has tried so hard to help with the schools in America, (city schools) and they were "ripping" her off. They wanted things that was and still is a waste of money in the schools. She wants students who are willing to go above and beyond for their education. Those girls will and many other poor counties. I agree with some of the comments about America being so Greedy! Yes!! We help other counties, but not the way we should. Oprah is a very caring person, what is one thing someone can say about her that we never said or did?? She is human and so are we. GO OPRAH!

Good for Oprah to be able to give back to anybody, no matter where they are.
However, doesn't Oprah have any white friends, or Asian friends, or Middle Eastern friends who want to be on her show? Or were they never invited?
If Bill Gates made a special about any of the 1,000 goodwill projects he did and only had on white friends there would be an outcry.
Fair is fair, equal is equal - those are not words that work "in the eye of the beholder."

Good for Oprah, she can do what ever she wants with her money and time. What have you done with time or money. Do something for your community whether its time or money, who have you helped? Look in the mirror and stop judging people who are giving back to whomever they choose.

I am sorry some people have such a warp since of, why Oprah feel connected to a country that has just come out up under Apartheid Rule people of African decent has been in lack, for many years, therefore to give a hand full of disadvantage girls a hand up, can be viewed as her being partial to blacks. None Blacks have more advantages than Blacks, and that is the way this world is set up. When you change that we want need the Oprahs of the world doing this, because we will all be on a equal playing field. Until then Go "O". I like the way you do what you do

Good for Oprah,It's about time someone did something good for people who cannot help themselves. Also alot of people are jealous of her. Some people just can't stand someone who can do good for people. I think if more people did good things in this world it could be a much better place for all of us to live in.

Oprah is just another kneegrow. She is racist and hateful. I mew her years ago at the Opryland Hotel in NAshville TN and she was rude, hateful, racist and a pitful excuse for a human being. I hope she eventually goes back to welfare just like the rest of her kind.

I can’t believe that people are saying all the negative comments about her. After all, she earned the money and she come up through the rakes and made her own way and her success. If this were a man, he would be a hero. She has done so much for the poor and I’m sure for her family and friends. Look at the people she has discovered, Dr. Phil, Nate, Gayle Dr. Robin and so many more. You never hear any reports from her staff or household staff about her being mean. I think she deserves all that has come her way, if you all don’t like it.. Kiss her Black ASS

I think Oprah is a good hearted person. I am a white female and if Ms. Oprah wants to help the black people then go for it. We as Americans are always looking for ways to put people down who want to help the poor. Why has it taken so long for our OWN government help the poor people who have lost so much in the hurricane? It is because those poor people are black. Our OWN government has let our own people down becuase the 9th ward is all black people. Shame on our government!!!!! Ms. Oprah stepped to the plate and built houses for those who lost so much. Our government helps everyone else but their own.

I have watched Oprah for years and I can say a woman who started with nothing has earned her success. Her desire to give a sector of African young girls an opportunity to get an education is great. Oprah has given back to many communities here in th U.S. and abroad. How many people who have money give back to their community? If more people would take the time and or money (as liitle a their daily coffee money) how far the unfortunate would be. The truth is Americans are greedy in the since of money we lack spending time with family or neighbors. We as Americans are spoiled and snotty because we have so much we take for granite. Go OPRAH!!! I appreciate all that you do. S
