Why isn't it enough to just be a fast-rising television star on a popular series on a major network? Are our young up-and-coming thespians that much of an overachieving set that they can't just take their earnings and buy themselves a new car or hang out at Louis Vuitton? It seems young television starlets everywhere are giving a new meaning to the term "triple threat." The real threat being that we'll be surrounded by examples of their talents being spread too thin and have it simultaneously shoved up our noses in multiple places.
Move aside Hillary Duff. Hayden Panettiere wants some of that hoopla too, and the proof is in her new music video for the straight to DVD Disney's Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.
If we knew that this was how you were going to repay the masses by saving your life on Heroes, then maybe we would have asked our beloved Heroes to do something else.
I guess I shouldn't be so hard on Hayden, after all she didn't get to this road on her own. Someone had to have recognized her blond hair and lack of a good vocal tone as a modern pre-requisite needed to become an American pop star. For that distinction I blame Hollywood Records. The same people who have given Hillary Duff, Raven Simone, Jesse McCartney and (I'm still trying to figure this one out) Regis Philbin.
So Hayden, just do your thing in the cheerleader's outfit, but don't think you're gonna find cheerleaders for your music career.

Leave the poor girl alone. She's just making the best of her opportunities. She'd be a bit dumb to not take advantage. I don't expect I'll be listening to her music, but I don't begrudge her a chance at using the chance she has. Let's just hope she doesn't sound like Ashlee Simpson :)

I'm with Derek. The song is great for a Disney movie song. She isn't asking to be in the Super Bowl Half Time Show. She is just doing what her talents allow. I like Hayden... I have been watching her since she was a little girl as Tina Lord's daughter on One Life To Live.
Oh and if you want to find cheerleaders for her music career just visit her MySpace page. You may not be a fan Elizabeth... but she's got em!

I hate to say it, but she's not half bad. While the video is noticeably mixed to soften and smooth out her voice, she still has a singing ability. I wont go so far as to say that she has talent, but hey,.. if Ashley Simpson can do it, why not Hayden?

Uh, Beth can you post the link to Hayden's MySpace because I searched for "Hayden Panetierre" and...I got 472 results. Apparently it's a very common name ^o^.

I found her MySpace doing a google search. I wanted to make sure she was the cute little toddler on One Life To Live before I posted my comment.

I've heard that song, and to be honest she isn't as bad as Elizabeth claims - Hayden's no Alison Krauss, but she doesn't sound nearly as processed as Ashley Tisdale. And it's not the first time she's burst into song either (she whose last name is a challenge for many has contributed for "Ice Princess," "The Dust Factory" and "Bridge to Terabithia").

I have to agree that her singing isn't all that terrible and, as Derek said, it'd be stupid for her to pass up that opportunity when it was offered to her. Her job is as an entertainer, and taking advantage of another opportunity to make money joing your "job" just makes sense.
On the other hand, I have to agree with the sentiment of Elizabeth's article. It seems like every actor who comes along these days, especially the young, blonde ones, just has to sing eventually. Their looks, and their songs, are becoming very generic, very clone-like. It's hard to tell one from the next, much less remember them the next day.

The song was quite good, and Hayden's voice is refreshingly clear, unlike most pop singers'. I enjoyed it enough to listen a second time.

I think Hayden isn't that bad. Especionally compared to a lot of other pop singers and those coming out of the Disney factory. You can tell that she is actually trying to do the song justice too. And I give her credit for not looking like Ashely Tisdale..all sexed up even though shes singing for little kids...Hayden didn't do that, which I think is great.
I applaud her for taking a chance and not being to much of a copycat.

For those that think her voice is not that bad, or that she has a singing talent...you can thank Autotune for that. The same software that helped Billy Joel make up for that awful beginning of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
Don't know what Autotune is? Google it. Or ask your local audio engineer.

I think you went a bit too far with that. Acctually she is a pretty talented singer. At the end of the Cindarella III song she belts out some pretty fierce notes. I'd like to hear you go and do that. Leave her alone. She obviously is good at what she does or people wouldn't be listening to her music. I also take offense to the blonde thing because I'm blonde and I hope to get a record deal one day. The difference is I actually write my own songs. Be careful what you say.

ok well..first of all JESSE (not JESSIE) McCartney was always a singer before the show Summerland. He's been working on his Beautiful Soul album before he even got the part on that show. Also, i think u should shut up and let Hayden alone because everybody likes to try new things. Playing the same television role and playing the same movie roles are so boring for some actors and actresses so they want to try new things. Some realize that singing is not for them, like Lindsay Lohan so she's still an actress. Hilary Duff became a success because SHE'S ACTUALLY GOOD! So, Ms. Elisabeth Chan, I think that you should leave Hayden alone and don't discrimate famous actors and actresses because they wants to try new things!

Hayden is a great singer she has a terrific voice. She should keep singing and acting too!!!! Stay away from her because obviously you don't know what your talking about! I may only be a teen but atleast I know if a singer is good or not!!! A lot of people would agree that Hayden is great at what she does. Being blonde has nothing to do with it either. some of my friends are blonde and their really smart! If you want to right about something make sure you know what you are talking about!!!

Hayden is remarkably talented, so leave her alone. She's a great actress, and a pretty amazing singer. Her voice isn't as messed with as many -cough- MANY -cough- singers, and she deserves a round of applause. I agree with Jen, Hayden can belt out some wicked notes, I'd like to see you try that as well. The fact that she's BLONDE has nothing to do with it. You know, that's a bit of a racist-like comment, but instead of races, you attack hair colors. That's nice. You need to find something better to do with your life. Leave the girl alone. I'm blonde. I sing. Have you ever thought of how many blonde people are out there? Chances are, some of them will be fair singers, and you can't attack them for it. Besides, Hayden's song "My Hero is You" is one of my favorite songs ever. She's a great actress, a great singer. Most people these days TRY to be both, and can't pull it off. She can. Deal with it and go pick on people who can't sing worth crap.
