If you've been waiting to see how the guy who made the transformation of a former cheerleader named Buffy into an action hero seem credible was going to bring a superhero with a lasso and invisible airplane to the big screen, you're out of luck.In a post to Whedonesque, Joss Whedon says he's no longer associated with the Wonder Woman movie. Apparently Whedon didn't share the studio's vision for the big-screen adaptation. He says the studio could have ordered a series of rewrites until his ideas were completely lost. But rather than have that happen, he's been pulled off the project.
Whedon is working on a backlog of other projects, ranging from the movie Goners, to creating an 8th season of Buffy in comic book form. He's also directing at least one episode of The Office this season.
Whedon writes that the best thing about being dropped from the movie is that he will no longer have to answer questions about casting.

Well this is certainly a disappointing development. It seems even less likely now that any of the heroines from Whedon's previous projects like Charisma Carpenter or Morena Baccarin take on the role of Wonder Woman.

Cinematical's post makes it looks like the project was scrapped in it's entirety ... are they still making a Wonder Woman, just without Joss?

The stories I read said that the studio had purchased a "Wonder Woman set in the 1940s" script from some other authors. It's unknown if they bought it to keep it off the market or to use it.

This is no surprise. Joss Whedon was a bad idea in the first place...He clearly had no true interest in doing it in the first place. I don't know why you people think he's so great. Serenity was a bore. Buffy and Angel were never what I'd call "genius". WB has already hired new writers...Those people didn't just happen to write that other script..WB rejected Whedon's crap months ago.........Thank God they fired his fat ass before he ruined Diana.

They need to drop the movie completely. It's going to suck, it was gonig to suck with Joss, and now without him we will have a worse movie.
Stop making super hero movies! 90% of them are trash!!!

Okay, as long as it is NOT J.LO - anybody will be fine for the role. Actually, I take that back. While on the subject, here is a list of other "DO NOT bother to cast" choices:
Jennifer Garner, Halle Barry, Sharon Stone, Kelly Osbourne (Not sure where that one came from), Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet, Kate Beckinsdale, Cate Blanchette, Kate Hudson, Uma Thurman or OPRAH!

I have to agree, this is great news. Serenity was a HUGE disappointment. It was as if it wasn't from the same person who made the TV series. Clearly he's not ready for the big screen.

Charisma had 0 chance of becoming wonder woman, Whedon and her didnt exactly leave Angel with the best of feelings.

Thanks God..Joss has been kicked out!!! Remember his first statement that he would make a Wonder Woman outfit just like a leather suit??!!! Well definetly he really doesn't know Wonder Woman and we need a man who know her and love her!!!
