Three weeks into a new season, American Idol continues to dominate the television landscape. And it now looks like the phenomenon has its eyes set on dominating the internet, as well. The official American Idol website has become an increasingly popular destination for millions of steadfast fans. Visits have reportedly doubled since last year's season premiere.Jeff King, vice president of Fox Interactive Media, stated: "Our goal has always been to make Americanidol.com the go-to site for millions and millions of American Idol fans-- extending the Idol experience into a 24/7 environment."
The site added a bunch of new features this year, including a music download store and a place where registered community members can share weekly recaps. Each week, one fan recap will be posted as the site's "official recap."

Personally, I think Idol is one of the most over rated show in AMERICA. Its a sad day in this land that fans think this show is worth watching, since it is a waste of so much valuable time. Its a ritual of DISGUSTING judges and contestants who are , or should be rejects on any other show. Simon is about the most worthless Asshole on T.V.

#2 I agree, it's a gross public spectacle of epic proportions and everyone always looks at the scene of the accident. We need alternative programming on other networks (Who have practically given up trying to schedule against AI altogether).

I'm suprised America lets this guy back in when he returns from Britain - he has ruined TV both here in the UK and with you in the US.
I would hope British border control would hold him at security when he tries to get back in, that way he can't put these lame shows on TV.

American Idol makes me vomit. All it does is show the ignorance of the American people, and pushes INTELLIGENT shows such as House and Bones out of the equation, thus making the general public even dumber than the week before. If FOX was smart, they'd dump this overly-glorified crap fest talent show.
