TV's Top 5!: The Sligh ride to Hollywood

Chris Sligh on American IdolAre you still impressed with the auditions on American Idol?

Besides the consistently odd behavior by Paula and Simon's unimpressed look paired with his snarky comments, last night's audition process hit a predictable wall with their talent. I am convinced that if you have hair that remotely resembles Justin Guarini's and can kind of sing, you are a shoe in for Hollywood. After all, it's easier for the show to gain credibility by transforming someone who needs a lot of work than to get someone like Carrie Underwood straight off the bat.

This morning everyone seems to be talking about Chris Sligh. Whom if you close your eyes, his tone was reminiscent of the marine idol Josh Gracin, during his watered down twang-ish rendition of Seal's "Kiss from a Rose". I couldn't help but wonder why Paula was getting so excited. Haven't we been here before people? I thought Sundance Head, granted with a stranger name, was much better. Shame on me, he was so last week. I guess we must reward yet another auditioner with a spike in Google searches and their very own set of MySpace page scavengers to really let the rest of America know that they are headed to Hollywood.

Sure Chris shows grace and humor during his audition but there must be more outstanding talent or a better underdog out there. If he doesn't win this whole thing, he's asking for a lifetime of comparisons to Jack Osbourne, (nice try Chris but Jack Black you are not) whom by the way looks pretty good if you've seen him in the short lived Armed and Famous. I wonder how Jack feels about that comparison.
