A British TV entertainment news anchor may have taken his admiration for the fictional 24 terrorist hunter Jack Bauer a wee bit too far . . .
UK news organizations are reporting that when Ben Shephard found out that his wife was pregnant with their second child, he tried to convince her to name the kid "Bauer," after his favorite character on his favorite TV program.
She wouldn't hear of it -- smart woman -- and they settled on the name "Jack" instead, sans the "Bauer."
No word on whether Shephard has purchased a teeny tiny indestructible cell phone and a CTU-issued bulletproof vest, or if he's already pre-ordered one of those Jack Bauer action figures.

So now his name is Jack Shephard? If the wife was trying to avoid going with the name of a hit TV drama's lead character, she sure picked the wrong one.

Several years from now this might not seem so strange. Think of all the fans of Emergency! that grew up to name their kids Gage.

My daughters are named Magnum and McGuyver. What's so weird about that?

My husband and I are definately going to name our son Jack--after Bauer and Shephard. Those our our two favorite shows! Plus, I just love the name Jack. What about Bauer for a middle name? :-0
