Claymates are in for a special treat this Valentine's Day when American Idol's second season runner-up, Clay Aiken, appears on Jimmy Kimmel's ABC Valentine's Day Special on February 14th. Clay has appeared on Kimmel's show several times and they reportedly enjoy a "good relationship." Let's hope that Clay doesn't ruin this special relationship by placing his hand over the host's mouth while he tries to speak. Not that I can blame Clay for that ugly incident with Kelly Ripa. Who among us hasn't wanted to silence Ripa's big yapping mouth now and again? Still, just to be safe, Clay might want to keep his hands to himself in the future to avoid unnecessary conflict and controversy.
For a montage of past special Clay/Kimmel moments, check out this video that some industrious fan put together.

It's funny how Kelly seems to be the only 'Idol' that has separated her image from that show.

So glad Clay will be on television again. I just love to watch him. He's got a great sense of humor, and Jimmy Kimmel recognises it, and respects it. Go Clay! Can't wait to see you and Jimmy. B J

So Clay made a mistake. Like you said, who wouldn't want to shut up Kelly Ripa. What a twit. She must have heard Clay want to do a talk show and did her best to keep him from saying a word. It was pretty obvious she feels threatened by any potential competition. What's the girl going to do when Regis retires? She can't carry the show alone. Her diatribe the following Monday guaranteed I'd never watch the show again unless they had some special guest on her day off.

Ahhhhh Clay doesn't have to keep his hands to himself...he can use them to hug me anytime he wants to. Clay didn't start the controversy..Kelly did. She made a mountain out of a molehill..and..Clay had a great time on his recent concert tour entertaining his fans with comments about the incident. Calling himself the Controversy King and Sultan of Scandal, Clay showed his terrific sense of humour by treating the incident as it should have been treated..a minor faux pas by a rookie co-host. Love you, Clay!

Clay is such a great person. I don't know why people give him such a hard time. I definately don't want to miss that Jimmy Kimmel. Clay is always very funny when he goes on that show. I am a huge Clay fan and I am even making a website about him right now. When I am done with it I will post the URL. I think any Clay fan would love it. It has all of Clay's American Idol performances, other interviews, and over 100 pictures of him so far.

Hey Liz, great article! Yes, I sure wish someone could close Kelly Ripa's mouth often. I don't even watch the show anymore. Now Clay is welcome to put his hand over my mouth anytime, I'd probably lick it. I am looking forward to spending a little time with Clay and Jimmy on Valentine's Day, they're always good for a few laughs.
