Actors really take themselves seriously, don't they? They don't even like to call a female performer an actress. Only actors allowed.
The SAG Awards are always a bit of a downer, since we already saw all these people at the Golden Globes. And pretty much the same people won again. The only pleasant surprises were The Office winning for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Little Miss Sunshine taking the movie cast award. Here are the winners:
Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries
Helen Mirren, Elizabeth I
Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries
Jeremy Irons, Elizabeth I
Male Actor in a Comedy Series
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock
Female Actor in a Comedy Series
America Ferrera, Ugly Betty
Ensemble in a Comedy Series
The Office
Male Actor in a Supporting Role
Eddie Murphy, Dreamgirls
Life Achievement Award
Julie Andrews
Female Actor in a Drama Series
Chandra Wilson, Grey's Anatomy
Male Actor in a Drama Series
Hugh Laurie, House
Ensemble in a Drama Series
Grey's Anatomy
Female Actor in a Supporting Role
Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirls
Male Actor in a Leading Role
Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland
Female Actor in a Leading Role
Helen Mirren, The Queen
Cast of a Motion Picture
Little Miss Sunshine

I thouht it was great when Chandra Wilson won best actress in a drama series and she thanked the 10 castmembers here, "and the other one who is in rehab."

I guess no male lead in a drama one will ever win an Emmy/Golden Globe/SAG award unless House goes off the air.
And it's a crime that The Wire's cast didn't even get a nomination for Best Ensemble.
Steve Carrell must be proud though, being part of two of the "best casts".

I'm very happy for America Ferrera and Hugh Laurie... They both deserve the awards.
I do like the SAG's, though, for not having a host. Even the Oscar's pretty much throw the host away about a half-hour into the ceremony, the SAG's just don't pretend to even have one to begin with. I imagine that helps with the "time crunch" in the production booth, too.

The voters of the Golden Globes and the SAG voters obviously dont have cable (Showtime) because this time NEXT YEAR "Dexter" will DOMINATE the awards. Michael C. Hall's day is coming...you'll see! Hey, it took a year for these same knuckleheads to discover "The Sopranos", "Six Feet Under" and after 3 years THEY JUST DISCOVERED "Ali G" (Borat) this year. LAME, LAME, LAME...SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!! But its cool - we forgive you! See ya NEXT YEAR! :)

I love House but I hope Dexter and Michael C. Hall get their due next year.
Is it just me or is it the case that with any nominee with a black person, they are assured of winning. I'm sensing some Hollywood liberal PC white guilt among the voters.

Yeah, it was kind of boring to sit through what was basically a re-hash of the Golden Globes (which means the Oscars will probably be a snoozefest, too) but there were some nice surprises, too.
Loved Chandra's win (agree with TomB's comment about her "one in rehab" reference), The Office win, seeing the cast of Mary Tyler Moore, and the Julie Andrews presentation. And I thought some of the "banter" was pretty funny, too (ex. Steve Carell and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss)

Who does Michael C Hall have to screw in Hollywood to get some respect? I'd like to see just how House was a better show than Dexter, and how Laurie outperformed Hall. Tack on that it was a completely new role that was filled with innovation, and graphic to boot. I really have no idea how they could have produced the show any better, and with the viewers it's getting, it does merit consideration.
I do realize it's all because of the graphic nature of Dexter, but really, shouldn't the SAG Awards at least be above that?

Why The Wire was not even nominated is beyond me and giving Grey's Anatomy the prize is insulting. I hate that show!

everyone thought Hugh Laurie was rubbed last year, well, now i think it's Michael C. Hall. i thought even though he lost the Globe (since Laurie is British and the Globe was given out by hollywood foreign press and all), he would have a good chance to get the Actor....but Laurie won again. oh well, hope the real academy (the Emmy) gives the damn statue to him.
best moment: Chandra Wilson's "the other one in rehab" remark. also, was Ellen Pompeo afraid to mention Isaiah Washington or something? how come she couldn't say his name? seriously though, everyone goes to rehab for bad mouth in hollywood nowadays.

Why would you call an actor an actress? You don't call a doctor a doctress.

A highlight for me was when Alec Baldwin was presenting one of the film awards and the teleprompter screwed up (which it seemed to do throughout the night), and he gave a subtle eyeroll and slight wave of his hand... classic Donaghey! I wondered if he was in character or if that's just how he is, but then, I don't really care since either way it is so damn funny!
The only reason I bothered with the SAGs was to watch the surviving cast of MTM present the award to the cast of The Office. So great to watch The Office folks on the same stage with, and clearly in awe of, one of the best casts ever on television.
I wish I could figure out how to add Chandra Wilson's line "and the other one who is in rehab" to my everyday conversation!

Whoa. Is Jennifer Hudson's SAG card dry? When was it printed...yesterday? You just have to know her fellow nominees are pissed.
I write this as I listen to her rendition of 'One Night Only'. No hate.

I love House and I love Hugh Laurie. He got royally screwed last year by not getting an Emmy nomination, so the more he wins now, the better. He is the best actor on TV, bar none. Without Laurie, there would be no House! Some people are simply irreplaceable, and he is one of them.

Great to see Chandra Wilson get the win, she deserved it this year. Hopefully, the Emmys will give her some love later in the year. However, I thought her comment was unnecessary; just what we don’t need, that crap in the limelight again. I guess were going to have another Oscar first this year: African-American actors taking home both the Supporting Actor awards. If they don’t, they were robbed. This is a career performance for Murphy and career-maker for Hudson. As someone who thinks House is over-rated as a series, I think Michael C. Hall was robbed. This also looks to be the year of America Ferrera, but why the hell should Alec Baldwin even get nominated? 30 Rock is a crap-fest and Baldwin isn’t THAT funny, unless playing a buffoon is called funny these days.

Jose, it's just you. If there was bias, "The Wire" would sweep (nominations) for SAG, Emmy and People's Choice awards.

OK Jose, please understand that there are extremely gifted and talented blacks who were always looked over when honors were given. Those great performances can no longer be cast to the side without being blatently obvious. So, enjoy the ride, you ain't seen nothing yet!!! Congratulations to all of the honoree's!
