Chris Daughtry, American Idol Season Five's hard-rocking fourth runner-up, proves once again, that you don't have to win American Idol in order to have a successful career in music. This week, Daughtry's self-titled debut album sold 65,000 copies -- just 134 more copies than the Dreamgirls soundtrack -- leaping to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard album charts.
Despite sluggish sales throughout the record industry, Daughtry has sold approximately 1.3 million CDs total in nine week of release.
Daughtry's CD sales were most likely given an extra boost this week by Idol's return to Fox, and by his performance of the National Anthem at the NFC championship game between the Chicago Bears and New Orlean Saints.
Daughtry will kick off his 2007 Winter Tour on January 28 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. A list of tour dates can be found by clicking here.
