It seemed that word got out during American Idol's Memphis auditions that the real ticket to going to Hollywood was telling the judges that you just welcomed the birth of a new child. Maybe editors were called back to recut the episode in hopes they could make the judges appear compassionate after all the media backlash they received last week for being too harsh to the Bushbaby.
When we first hear the line "My name is Sundance Head", you think it's some kind of cruel joke or an excellent name for someone working in the adult entertainment industry. This man was no joke and left the judges no time to tease him when he brought out his serious talent.
With or without a new child, Sundance Head would have made it through to Hollywood without buttering up the judges, unlike that other guy, with an already forgettable name whom we followed to the hospital to meet his baby.
On another issue about the audition, does anyone know what is Simon's deal with Taylor? This is at least the second time that he's made an overt jab at the Idol winner.
Regardless of the judges antics, last night's episode of American Idol is a good testament of how wrong Elisabeth's tirade was on The View, when she spoke about everything wrong about modern relationships. Why so heated Elisabeth? Could it be an indication of trouble brewing in your own home?

I really liked Jason and can see him in the top 10 easily. I really hope he plans to leave his chin rat at home when he heads to Hollywood, though.

I don't follow American idol, although I can't get away from Taylor Hicks, my god he's everywhere! I never could understand why people think he's so great. I've worked in bands with singers as good, or better. This new guy can definitely sing better, but why does everyone have this fascination with gospel/rhythm & blues style????? I'm sick to death of hearing it. Can't someone just sing something straight without all the drama and ornamentation??? Finally, there's nothing wrong with his "chin-rat" so-called. I just hope they don't dress him like a fool if he wins.

1) I think Taylor went on record saying something about how he doesn't have to watch American Idol anymore. Of course it all gets fixed up nicely by publicists afterward, but I think that once you piss Simon off you can assume that he'll hold a grudge.
2) Simon would have passed on Taylor. It's on tape, we've all seen it. I'm sure many of the bad singers he's listening to all day are reminding him of that as a way to back up their "Your opinion of me doesn't really count" argument. That impacts his credibility as a judge, and I'm sure it bugs him.

Taylor won more on personality than singing. It was watching his performance that caused people to vote. I'm not sure he would have done as well if we all had to listen to them on the radio instead. But you must remember, this isn't just a singing competition. It's to find a "star" and you have to consider in the "it" factor. The judges remind us of this all the time. Originally it was to find a POP star but they have at least let the winners branch off in other markets because of how fickle the Pop market can be at times.
As for Elisabeth, she has always been a big defender of marriage. She is the American Values host except she is not against gay marriage. Now I'm with Joy when she said when it comes to this topic, Elisabeth can't see any grey at all. I feel sorry for Tim if they should ever get divorced because Elisabeth will make his life a living hell.

Taylor sucked. (Still does, actually.)
It's no secret that Simon -- and nearly half of last season's viewers -- didn't like him.

Sundance is amazing! I've known him since the second grade and always knew he would make it big! We love you Sundance! Everyone in Porter will be voting for you! Appearance doesn't matter, he looked great....i think the judges said it best with the "bin ladin" guy.

Yes Sundance is really good, so was the bin laden guy. Sorry I'm not good with names. I think those two will both make it to the final 10
I happen to like Taylor. I think it is better to see him perform then maybe just listen to him but I still will listen anytime I can. I voted for him through out the competition. As for Simon, not everyone likes all kind of music and so maybe he doesn't like Taylor, big deal. During the show he did once in a while say some nice things to him. You know everyone says Carrie Underwood is great. Well not my cup of tea and I didn't vote for her. She won and is doing great. You have to give credit to anyone trying out that really can sing. I have no use for the ones that know they can't sing but tryout just to get on tv and then make the rounds on talk shows to put Simon and AI down. I would never try out because I know I can't SING. I would hope that if I said I was going to try out my family would stop me. They know I can't sing and won't want me to make a fool of myself. I sometimes wonder if some of the contests have friends because if you do how could they let you try out. Knowing you can't sing and then storming out of that room and saying nasty things about the judges is in my opinion plain crazy. The ones I feel most sorry for are the ones that can sing but just aren't good enough for the competition. The judges can only pick so many and there are some really talented people who just don't make it. I guess the judges have to pick the ones with the voice and some kind of presence. Anyway I will keep watching and voting. The judges aren't always right. I will see what happens.

I think that Sundance Head is very good, though he was off balance in the Hollywood auditions. Couldn't keep up with the pace of the song, singing was a little off and he couldn't keep up with the musicians or backup singers. Sundance needs to know that this isn't performing behind a mirror--this is show business, and you have to bring it at all times! I hope that he does well in the competition.

What I want to know is how many markets besides the U.S. gets this program? Maybe it would explain why Sunjaya got into the 12 instead of Sundance.
Plus I want to know how many ears got plugged up voting for Haley.
If Sunjaya even gets close to LaKisha or Melinda I'm going on protest.
And as far as previous Idols - I think America missed the boat with Christina Christian, Nikki McKibbon and Tamyra Gray. The only real idols to have made something of a career and two weren't even winners (I forgot Mandesa and Frenchie are both on Broadway), are Dougherty (bravo as last year voters totally blew it all the way around) and Clay Aiken.
And the one valid winner, Carrie Underwood, along with Fantasia, remember their roots.
The rest don't deserve the time of day, especially Jennifer, Kelly, Taylor, Katherine and any others who snub the show.
I sincerely hope Idol Rewind gives Christina, Tamyra and Nikki a new break on their careers.
