Radar Online just posted a really brief review of The Half-Hour News Hour, FOX News' The Daily Show-esque comedy program. As most of us expected, the future of this program does not look good. It has been described as a show combining "the timeliness of Newsweek with the incisive wit of Mallard Fillmore". Whoa. Come on, Radar, that was below the belt. Nobody deserves to be compared to Mallard Fillmore. Although, I suppose The Half-Hour News Hour was kind of asking for a beating by even daring to even entertain the notion of a Limbaugh/Coulter White House.

Fox tried a late night comedy show almost 20 years ago, The Wilton North Report. Although it had occasional brief momens of wit, I think it lasted a handful of nights before getting yanked.

Gee, don't go shattering all those stereotypes about conservatives being bigots.

Actually, I have high hopes for this show. The Daily Show did its best work when the Right was in the majority, with the DNC behind the reigns, its time to slam the left. If in the right hands, the concept should work.

There hasn't been a funny conservative since Ross Perot, and he wasn't doing it purpose. Face it guys, you didn't get to were you are today (conservative
President, majority of Americans being conservative, etc.) with a funny bone. Some things had to be sacrificed for the good of the party.
Personally, I'd much rather be funny. But then again, I'm voting Green in '08 (especially if Hillary wins the primaries) so my opinion doesn't count.

Uh . . .hate to break it to you, but the Right is still in power. Unless Bush, Cheney and Condi have had a conversion I don't know about.
And the Daily Show is slamming the left, and doing a funnier job of it than Fox will *ever* manage.

Uhm, you do know that the current administration is Republican, right? And you do know their attitude about Congressional authority? Then it would decidedly be the case that the right is still in power.
Anywho, it makes sense that Fox News can't be funny. When you are filled with so much hate for people different than yourself, it can be hard to crack a smile and tell a joke that people without the hate will appreciate.

I bet if you got up tomorrow morning and stubbed your toe then youd start screaming about how Bush is trying to kill you.
Maybe the tin foil is too tight around your head, but lemme clue you in. The Democrats have control over the House and the Senate. When legislation fails to pass this time around then its the DEMOCRATS fault because they are in control. Honestly, how hard is that for you to grasp?

What's not funny is how the majority of the hateful and intolerant comments come from the so-called tolerant left. Any time Fox News, Bush, Cheney or anything even remotely associated with conservatism is mentioned, out comes a spate of hateful remarks about how intolerant the right is. When it's an article about the leftists such as Hollywood liberals, you get a few comments, but the quantity pales in comparison to you "loving liberals".
Hypocrisy is alive and well...and it leans to the left.

Hey, if the show isn't funny, at least they can take pride in the fact they have the same journalistic integrity as all the other Fox News shows.

I would say that conservatives have a stick up their ass when it comes to stuff like this, but that sounds vaguely gay, and Right-Wingers get all twitchy about that. A little Fox News, though, and they're all heterofied and copacetic.

Come on guys...not all Republicans are hate-filled, homophobic, racists. Just the ones that they chose to represent them.
The Fox News channel just happens to be those bigots' Spice Channel.
And who says the right isn't funny? Remember Dennis Miller?
...yeah, me neither.

For whatever reason, conservatives aren't funny in the ironic, political sense. Even a comedian like Dennis Miller really had to dumb it down to become a darling of the right.
We are what we are--and it's doubtful any conservative with ever have any success like the Daily Show or even a right leaning sketch comedy show.
