The wheel of publicity spins round and round. On January 18th, Rosie O'Donnell complained on The View that American Idol's judges were too harsh. She described them as "three millionaires, one probably intoxicated." Really, much like her remarks about Trump's hair, that description of the show doesn't seem that far out of line with the general public's perception of American Idol or, at the very least, of Paula Abdul. Nevertheless, Simon Cowell felt compelled to reply. Rosie's remarks "smacked of 'I'll have a go at Donald Trump - good for ratings. That died down, so now I'll do American Idol.' Next week it will be, 'I don't like the dresses on Dancing with the Stars.'"Now, Rosie is on a show whose entire conceit is to gab it up on the pop culture and current events of the day so it really shouldn't surprise anyone that she moved from Trump's Miss America moralism to American Idol. I just hope Rosie doesn't respond to Cowell with some weird comment. That's one playground news cycle nobody needs. It would be so much easier if he'd just pull her pigtails, and she'd just step on his GoBot.

The judges are a bit cruel, but... does anyone ever realize that to get into the music industry is a 1 in a BILLION chance. Even if you don't win American Idol, look at those people who the show have furthered their dreams. And PLEASE, do not be mistaken that they got their chance except because of the show. And they have been very critical of people's appearances, their voice in comparisons to others, and their "sale value". This is a show to pick someone who can "sell" records. And TRUST ME, not all American Idols can.
Example 1 - Fantasia has done what?
Example 2 - Rueben was a fat bastard, but they loved him, but he has done what?
Example 3 - Kelly Clarkson wasn't even a favorite till the end (though I loved her)
Example 4 - What is Taylor Hicks doing now?
Example 5 - Jennifer Hudson was told to go to broadway, and she would do well. Is she doing well?
Example 6 - Justin was told he is a looker, but Kelly was better. Justin is doing just fine.
More than that, there were tons of people in the final 12 or 10 that could've been criticized more. George was mentally handicapped, and we know it, but no one brought that up. They supported him, and let America decide.
And last year, there were heavier people on the show, but they ignored it.
So for anyone to say they are critical about "LOOKS", it is true, but they do let true talent go through. America decided to let the "less fortunate", or the "less fit" people leave early. Except Rueben, which I do think Clay was better, but.....
Anyways, Rosie should take her "Alternative Lifestyle Cruise" and leave her "Alternative" comments to herself. Unless she wants to be judged by the as she says "Morale" American community.
Anyhoo
Best Luck to the next American Idol

Love the gobot comment.
Umm yeah where is Justin these days??? Haven't heard of him in years. Yeah you are right that some people have disappeared into obscurity after being on American Idol, but Kelly Clarkson the best one, isn't the first winner usually the best? well except for Richard Hatch on survivor, but that's another story.... Kelly's doing extremely well, and in case you haven't watched tv in the last umm two weeks Jennifer Hudson just won a Golden Globe for her role in Dreamgirls and is nominated for an Academy Award ,so the judges and America aren't always right.
I just think that judges should keep their comments to only be about someone's musical talent, we can all hear when someone is the worst singer in the world, and it is funny to make fun and laugh when they still believe they are going to be a star someday, BUT to start making fun of their looks, Simon said that boy looked like a bush baby, I think that's just cruel and taking it to a whole different level. I'm sure the guy has looked in the mirror before and knows exactly what he looks like, I just think that's taking it too far...but alas that's just my opinion...

it's kind of hypocritical of rosie to suggest that Paula was under the influence during the most recent AI, yet she had no problem with a certainly drunk danny devito on her show.
Can America just vote Rosie off our televisions?

It is sad to say but we, being human, thrive on seeing people made fun of. If we didn't then there would be no comedians in the world. Who out there can honestly say that when one of the people auditioning for American Idol walks in that you don't critique how they are dressed or how they look as well as how they sound?! The judges on American Idol are able to voice those thoughts (even when those thoughts should be kept to themselves) as i sit in the comfort of my own home thinking the exact same thing. I know...I am bad for saying that. I think this year that the contestants are getting more rude. Hello...what season is this of American Idol? Contestants know exactly what they are getting themselves into.
As for Rosie, I was on her side with the whole Donald Trump drama. But come on...give it a rest already. It's like watching a movie where there is a great climax but a pathetic ending or no ending for that matter.

I think that Rose needs to find something else to do with her time other than make trouble. She is a big woman with a big mouth. She can not expect everything to be to her liking. It is a free world! People can say what they want! But she is just making more people not like her. GIVE IT A REST!

What's up w/everyone? Rosie is on a television show called "The View"!!! If anyone is bothered by her comments-which aren't anything that anyone hasn't talked about already, then just change the channel! It's really simple now-we all have remotes. And most of us have like 800 channels to choose from. I think what Simon said to those 2 dudes was VERY cruel! Since when do our looks give us our talents???? Trump used "physical" insults on Rosie, calling her pigface, fat,etc....Well- Trump isn't all that handsome himself.
I thought beauty was superficial and our real beauty is skin deep, or no? At least that's how I was raised.
Everyone of us has flaws and we all have a talent, whether we know it and use it, or not. But to flat out and make an insulting remark on national TV, to plain ordinary people "trying" to become something in their lives is just plain MEAN!!! i mean, Simon was just an ordinary "bloke" himself, before he was given an opportunity many years ago in England. Did he get "popular" from his "Looks" or his "Talent", which would mean his "Brains". I'm pretty sure it wasn't from his looks. He's an ordinary dude just like my neighbor-then again, my neighbor could pose for GQ! hahaha - I doubt Trump and/or Simon could. Let's keep the sand in the sanbox kids!!!! As for Paula, yes, she did look messed up on "something". If she's zero tolerent as she claims, then I suggest she visit her nearest OB/GYN, because her behavior IS irratical and her body chemicals & hormones are definately off kilter. I used to have the utmost respect for Paula, she is so talented and smart-but that seemed to have gone when she joined AI.

What Rosie said about Simon, et al was an observation of the obvious. What Rosie said about Trump (Failed marriages and filing bankruptcy in his past) was all TRUE. What Donald said about Rosie proved that he is still 2 years old and can't admit the truth.

come on now, what did rosie say that has not been said before. i remember comments from one of the late night shows where paula was acting weird too. as far as the comments about simon and the rude remarks to the contestants, rosie was speaking with maternal instinct. i felt the same way. rosie does love kids, hers and all others. the view is just that and if you dont like it dont watch it. i personally like it better with rosie on it.

Rosie is just what Trump described... A LOOSER. She makes fun of Trumps physical appearance, then slams Idol for doing the same. Then she basically calls Paula Abdul a drunk yet it's okay for dopy Danny DeVito to come on her show drunk.
The View needs someone their to balance the show and basically call Rosie out on her hypocrisy. Then maybe, the View will last. Poor Barbara Walters, she is regretting this.
