It definitely could be worse for Katharine McPhee. She could have been tending bar somewhere right now, watching the new season of American Idol just like the rest of us couch potatoes.
But we must remember Katharine McPhee is nothing but a loser, and maybe that's why she has been tapped to cameo as herself on an upcoming episode of Ugly Betty. Underdogs who make being a loser look that good unite! Considering that both America Ferrara and former Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson both won Golden Globes, it makes you wonder.. is she going after the Globe?
It sure seems so.
In a recent TV Tattler Interview Katharine promoting her new album which drops on January 31 is more interested in the acting world throughout the conversation saying, "I started as an actress before I did 'Idol,' so it's great. [Jennifer Hudson] opened doors. I have an amazing manager for film, so I'm really not worried. I'm so lucky to have [these people] working behind me. "
But as we all know the jump from Idol contestant to acting is a treacherous road. Lets just ask Justin Guarini. Does anyone know where he is?

justin guarini?... i saw him on the corner of broome and greene in soho last week (seriously). he had a k-mart quality backpack, and when an overexcited tourist in her fifties started oogling over him, he presented from his backpack a pre-signed photo of himself. wonder if it said: 'from justin, to kelly'...?
