Note: This post contains a major spoiler for the CBS soap opera Guiding Light. If you don't want to know what happens later this week, don't read any further, don't scroll down, etc, etc. This is your last warning!
So I'm watching the last half of today's GL, and Tammy is run over by someone (I think it was meant for Jonathan, someone hired by Alan, but I'm not sure because I've missed several recent episodes). She's lying in the hospital bed, Rick says she's in a coma and has brain swelling, everyone is waiting around to see what happens, and a moody song plays on the soundtrack.
And then at the end of the show, a commercial for the new issue of Soap Opera Digest comes on...
Update: was it Soap Opera Weekly? Hmmm....
Update on the Update: It was actually Soaps In Depth.
...and says something like "What will Jonathan do now that Tammy's dead? In the new Soap Opera Digest, on sale now!"
Ah, thanks for telling me that Tammy dies. I wouldn't want to watch the show and be surprised by the plot or anything.

I HATE Soap Opera Digest for that exact reason. They do that all the time on the ABC soaps and it drives me nuts! I'm among the minority that doesn't read the spoilers, so those commercials ruin HUGE plot points/storyline twists if I somehow don't TiVo past them. I also have to make sure I stay focussed on my food at the checkout line at the grocery store or else the magazine itself ruins a show or two ("Alive!!" or "LEAVING!!").

Ok as a soap watcher (GH) AND a spoiler-reader - even I gotta say that's harsh. Now, if you go to the newsstands, sometimes the Soap mags will give away plots - maybe the actor's face with a big "Leaving?" over their head.. etc. but to air it during the program, just after the "big doomed moment".. it's a slap in the face to those who enjoy the program.

SOD doesn't run commercials. Maybe it was a network promo?

It's also on the cover of Soap Opera Digest in the grocery story. I knew they were leaving the show this month, anyway, so I'm good. I also love spoilers. And I needed to know the at the door was left open for Pelphry. Glad Tammy dies, so there! LOL

SOD's Publisher, Bauer, DOES run commercials for its soap magazines. This was one of them.

IT WAS BAD ENOUGH LOOSING BOTH TAMMY AND JONATHON...BUT THE NEW INTRO IS A SLAP IN THE FACE FOR THE OLD DIE HARD FANS LIKE ME..I'VE WATCHED THIS SOAP FOR 30YRS AND THE LIGHT HOUSE ALWAYS HAD THAT SPECIAL OPENING FOR MY FAVORITE SHOW. I HATE THE NEW ONE. IT ISN'T GUIDING LIGHT ANYMORE. I'M REALLY DISAPPOINTED AND I'M SURE I'M NOT ALONE. WHY FIX IT IF IT ISN'T BROKEN.
