Well, here's a new twist to the never-ending saga of The View: Rosie O'Donnell will leave the show for her own solo talk show later this year.
That's according to TV Week, which cites inside sources as saying that O'Donnell has a clause in her contract saying that after a certain amount of time she can leave for her own show (though the contract also says that she has to negotiate with the Walt Disney Company -- ABC is owned by Disney -- before she goes anywhere else).
So I guess this is a question for both Rosie fans and fans of The View: would this be a good move for both of them? Rosie left her first talk show several years ago in a big way, so why would she want to go back to that? Then again, she did agree to come back to TV full-time on The View, so that's probably not a concern.
Maybe Barbara Walters can get Ivanka Trump to take her place on The View?
(And while we're talking about Rosie, TMZ has video of her dumping on American Idol and Paula Abdul this morning.)

Please Rosie... just leave the View. It was a class act show before you and your opinions showed up. Today I had to turn it off after your comments about American Idol. These people know what they are getting into when they try out.

If Rosie does leave "The View" it won't be because she wasn't GREAT!! I only watched "The View" when there was nothing else on TV at the time BEFORE ROSIE - now I watch it everyday because there is NEVER A DULL MOMENT!!! Besides that, I tried to get tickets to "The View" when I found out Rosie was joining & they were sold out for the entire season!! I am sure "The View" ratings prove my point!

I think Rosie needs to leave The View. I don't think she has any class, so she didn't bring any to the show when she joined the panel. I quit watching it when she became a part of it and through these outbursts and tirades, I've lost respect for Ms. Walters, too. I'll consider becoming a viewer again if Rosie leaves, but until then...Martha Stewart is on at the same time on a different channel.

Oh, for the umpteenth time, Rosie O'Donnell is NOT
leaving The View. If she is, somebody in the blogger
must have heard too much imformation, and it wasn't me.
I'm still a fan of Rosie O'Donnell, no matter which
talkshow she's hosting or co-hosting on. Back in 1996,
she had (the key word) her own talkshow, and it was
Rosiemania. It didn't last too long. If the viewers
want Rosie O'Donnell off The View that badly, they're
going to be in for a long wait, because she's said it
before, Rosie O'Donnell is staying put on The View.
Rosie getting a 2'nd stab at her own talkshow would be
like FOX TV getting another chance at the Late Night
variety show curcuit. It's never going to happen.
ROCK.

I am a huge fan of Rosie. She has a right to her opinions as we all do. I happen to agree with her about the judges on Idol. Think about it, these contestants have to sing to (and be seen by) the producers of this show before they get to the next level, which is the auditions we see in front of the three judges. So they are told by friends and family that they actually can sing well enough for this competition, then these producers put them through to the judges, giving them this same impression, so when Randy, Paula and Simon rip them apart about how they sing, look and act, these souls are in shock. Do we as human beings actually want to see people be so hurt and humiliated?

I love Rosie. I won't bother watching "The View" after she leaves. She's the only reason I have ever tuned in to that show. She made it come to life.
I'd rather she have her OWN show, though. She will be even better having the show all to herself.
Rosie rules!!

Rosie- I use to have respect for you, but you just look like a slob with nothing nice to say about anything or anyone. It has nothing to do with who you are - it has all to do with who've you BECOME! What ever happen to the golden rule? The world might be a better place if people tried it!

This really isn't a surprise. I am guessing that besides the money, Rosie went on the show as a test. She succeeded with the fake persona of being this nice person, with the softball questions to entertainers when she had her own show. Now she wanted to see how she would do if she was just herself, which is basically obnoxious and opinionated. Now that she has seen the ratings she brought to the view, she is going to leave to start her own show again, but this time as herself and not some fabricated entertainment interviewer.

Rosie needs to GO and the only way she will be able to "save face" is to be able to say, I'm leaving on my terms and starting my own show again". Not that it will last any longer than anything else she has done in the past 10 years. She gets all excited about new projects and then when it doesn't go her way, bingo, out the door she goes not caring who she leaves holding the bag. I can't believe that the Walt Disney Company is very happy with her right now. What happened to certain things could be said in the evening or the comedy channel but not during the day? I enjoyed her biting humor when she did it at the appropriate times. But now its seems she just attacks everyone she talks about instead of using the humor she was known for.

I officially quit watching on Wednesday, this week, when Rosie said that American troops in Irag have killed more innocent civilians than Sadaam ever did. What is so different about the way she bullies those who oppose her than Simon's comments. But, I have a very powerful tool at my disposal for them both...It's call the "off" button.

Barbara, it is time to get rid of her. She has ruined your classy show which no longer exists.

When Barbara made her decision to have Rosie on The View, she brought the show back to life. Rose is so informative, it makes up for Liz and Joy who can't carry the show for 5 mimutes on their own. Rosie can talk about anything and you want to hear more. Rosie is right when she speaks about the American Idol. When we see the contestants on TV they have already been through the producers and are sent on to the judges. The ratings are up because it they had some compassion at all they would tell these people to forget about performing and not have them make a complete spectical of them selves. And that is the message that Rosie is trying to say. Keep Rosie because without her Barbara you have no show-Veaira knew what she was doing. Need I say more.

Last time I checked, this was still America, everyone has the right to state their opinion. Rosie is not different, just because some people don't agree with what she says, shouldn't mean she's obnoxious, or a big mouth it's just her VIEW on things.
She is also a comedian. Lots of comedians make fun of daily life. Some are sarcastic, some are physical.
No one is forced to watch the view, yet people do and they discuss the show daily. Isn't that what its about? Different VIEWS!!!!
Leave her alone and go gripe about someone else for a change. Believe me there are a lot more people to complain about besides Rosie

I HOPE this is not just for more publicity. I think
it's WAY past time for Rosie to leave this show. If she is going to do any talk show, it should be her own. That way, I and no one else that dislikes her will have to watch. I can't stand the View, but would watch occasionaly when someone interesting came on....that is, until big mouthed, brassy, take over the show-Rosie came on. She is nothing more than a miserable person that just lives to find a fight and get in the media.
