American Idol always provides some interesting and inspiring back-stories on some of the more unusual and/or "unique" contestants during the audition episodes. But if you're like me, you might also hunger for more information on some of those who don't merit an individual AI spotlight. Don't you wonder, "Who are these people? And what rock did they crawl out from under?"Folks you're in luck, because Eric over at Death by Camera has done a little legwork and compiled a list of links to the MySpace pages for last night's rejected and accepted Minneapolis contestants. Dying to know more about The Juggler, The Jewel-Wannabe, or The Cowardly Lion Girl? Then check it out.
You know, it seems like nowadays you can find just about anyone on the web, making me wonder why nobody has even tried looking for Osama bin Laden on MySpace. And I know this is going to make me sound like an old fart (probably because I am), but I don't really get the fascination with MySpace. The pages always look cheesy to me. The punctuation is always horrendous. The designs make me dizzy. The music is annoying. And some of those "friends" photos are truly scary.

I'm from Minnesota and am so embarrassed at the lousey talent your screeners picked. Were they picked for a JOKE? The Navy man only got picked because he was IN the Navy and the same for the gal who was a guardsman who kept kissing her husbands picture - she was OK but not good. The girl from Duluth was the BEST by far. The rest STUNK - what was that LION on for - what a total disgrace for Minnesota. Who in the Heck picked her out of the thousands that tried out - That girl should go hide somewhere for the next 20 years - she was a disgrace to Minnesota and a disgrace to whoever told her she could be on the show.

My favorite, favorite one is Jewel-wannabe's page, where she says she's a big fan of the "Google Dolls."

I just want to say how much I enjoyed Jewel as a guest judge during the Minneapolis auditions. She was not one of the usual stars saying mostly sweet things and letting awful performances get by. She was quick to say "no" and to offer criticisms. Plus, she stayed serene and lovely throughout. If there is ever a vacancy in the Judge department, I think she should be seriously considered.

People seldom realize the true power of MySpace. it is by far one of the best marketing and networking tools on the internet to date. There are several artist on MySpace under "Indie" labels who are now making a pretty good name for themselves. I think it is a good idea, and I wish other contestants would follow along the same path.

hahaha, you guys are talking about this person or that person made minnesota look bad? did you happen to catch the seattle episode with Brandon Groves? he dressed as Uncle Sam and sang "God Bless America". yea i've went to school with him since 6th grade through 12th. How do you think I feel? but at least he wasn't as bad this year as last when he sang "I Shot The Sherriff" in his police uniform. (yes, he really is a cop). now that was horrendous

Don't be embarassed, Minnesota has lots of company nation-wide. I wish the idol producers would get through the city auditions faster and get to the Hollywood portion sooner. It's starting to become somewhat grating... and predictable.

I like American Idol, as do my kids. MY favorite part has been the first few shows, when the judges do 'pick on' the wannabe's. But, I must say that this year I TO think the judges went to far, with their remarks. I CAN understand Simon saying out-loud when a person walks in, "Are you kidding me?", reason being, because the producers have Chosen that person TO move on before the judges, knowing very well that they can't sing. To me, which is more harmful to those kids? Simon's remarks or the fact that they were already told they were 'good enough' to move on? I was upset because the judges made fun of the Handicapped kids, now that bothered me, poking fun at someone because they cant sing is one thing, but because they have or look handicapped is just wrong. Paula being drunk? That just makes the show more fun to watch! I have to side with Rosie on this one though, the judges were wrong for how they spoke to and how they 'judged' the wannabe's.
One last thing, I get a kick out of those who ALWAYS say, "I am the best, I sound just like Mariah! (or whomever)" What is up with those guys? U do NOT sound like Mariah, or Jewel, wake up kiddoes!! :O)
Have great days everyone!! Cyn (from Houston)

Simon told Oprah that these people REALLY BELIEVE they are great and THINK they can be the next AI. They live in a fantasy world. The "LION GIRL" said she had taped every show and every episode of Canadian Idol, etc. Simon went on to say that HE needed to be harsh on these people to bring them to a STOP and get over this. Watching the past two nights, I heard comment after comment about how they living this DREAM. That is WHY they come there and we see what fools they are.

Give all these idol contestants credit Please. It takes a lot for a person to get in front of people to start with. For the ones who are being so so creditical of these contestants, why don't you sign up and be a contestant and let Simon make fun of you and see how you would feel? I don't blame these contestants for cursing Simon.Maybe Simon should try out for American idol and let us judge him lol.If a contestant has a bad record for Dui so what, maybe they are trying to better themselves.Lots of stars get in trouble with the law.Why do we have to judge one contestant on his bad behavior in the past? I wish I was living in the 70's again, life was so much more fun and simpler. All, I am saying is so what these contestants can't carry a tune at least they had rhe balls to try.DON'T BASH THEM UNTIL YOU TRY IT!

Some people are terrible singers, but they think they can sing. You can even tape them and play it back, and they think it sounds good. They're just delusional. I think it's good that someone tells them they're terrible.
A lot of people watch Idol just to get a chuckle out of the really bad singers and the snotty rejections. The music biz is brutal. If the rejected contestants really have something special to offer, they can make the big time, even if they don't fit the Idol mold. Think of how popular Bob Dylan is.

We passed the time already when should teach our kids for life. Fundamentally wrong education system is to blame why these kids unable to realisticaly measure their own talent. including parents, everywhere the only word to our kids is ok which is praising them. they never learn the real life is different until they get in. That is why so strange to most of us when someone has the courage to say negative comments as simon did and by my opinion he did good. unfortunately there is no screening on behavior, apearance (not natural physical) and basic intelligence. Isn't it all these should be the characteristics of an american idol?

Whatever happened to having confidence in one's self ?
Didn't someone say once, "laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you'll cry alone ? Wow, the beating down of people that have more than likely pulled themselves up by their boot straps every single day of their lives just to survive is horrible! Just a thanks but no thanks would allow them to go forward with some kind of self esteem wouldn't it? And what's with the remark, "Yeah, you probably need to stick with country music "????? Surely we're not picking on country music this season are we guys? Just a tad hypocritical one would think - especially noting Carrie Underwood as one of the best!

How awful of these adult celebrities making fun of the looks of these people. One of the contestants looked as if he may have been a survivor of an earlier car accident. Maybe born that way. Who knows? All the same, how could they down this person so cruely. It usually is because of one's own insecurities. They went too far this time.
