Faithful TV Squad reader Gordon Werner has a question, so everyone listen up:
"Will Discovery Channel be airing another season of Deadliest Catch this year?"
The answer, dear Mr. Werner, is "yes." In fact, the third season is currently being filmed and will kick off on April 3, 2007. Make sure you tattoo that information on your body like that guy in Memento, it's a great way to remember things. That's why I have "buy eggs and milk" inked on my inner thigh right now.
Deadliest Catch is a documentary series that began in 2005. It follows six fishing vessels as they fish for crab in the Bering Sea and face serious injury or death due to the rough conditions. The crew not only consists of fisherman who have been on several expeditions, but also "greenhorns" who are experiencing the job for the first time.

I hope they find a way to make season 3 more exciting than season 2. I was a little disappointed last year, because with the addition of the quota system (which allowed boats to catch only a set limit, rather than the previous first-come-first-served free-for-all), it didn't seem like the crews were working at quite the frenzied pace as the first season. Less excitement all around. The quota change also made the "Netscape Crab Count" scoreboard they showed before commercial breaks pointless and silly, because we already knew each ship was only going to catch their predetermined limit and go home. Under the old system, it would have been a great idea - root for your favorite crew and watch their progress relative to the other boats. Regardless, I'll be waiting patiently until this show returns...

This is pretty much the only reality television i watch, it doesnt put people into manufactured conditions, just films them doing what they do.
Though, you have to believe the boat crews play it up for the cameras... something about heisenberg and uncertainty and the inability to observe things without changing them comes to mind. still much more 'real' than survivor or realworld stuff.

But will it be in HD so it can air on Discovery HD?

I don't know if the HD cameras can survive the elements on board ... but it would definitely be cool to see everything in HD
