No. I watched the video of her interview and she wasn't disoriented, or answering the questions incorrectly, as she maintained on Leno. I was waiting for her to step up and offer the medical defense that so many commenters on this site were quick to make for her yesterday--but nothing. It made no sense.

But she was clearly in good shape on Leno--speaking clearly and fully alert. Which doesn't say much for that medical defense.

It's absolute horsecrap. I work in satellite production, and I can tell you that NO ONE is EVER miked to do two interviews at once. It just doesn't happen. She'd have to have to IFBs hooked up to her (one in each ear), and again, that doesn't happen. Producers don't allow for it.

Speaking as someone who has had friends and families with substance abuse problems, I can tell you that she has a problem, and a big one. It will only get worse. Just watch.

I don't know about the strange behavior but I saw her on Leno and commented to my husband that she seemed rather together that night. I was wondering what the heck she was talking about with the Alabama and Seattle thing.

Paula is on drugs! She was obviously under the influence of cocaine during this evening's (1.16.07)american idol. She was clenching her jaw and constantly figiting.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Fox affiliate did a follow-up story on their interview with Abdul. I didn't see it when it was originally aired, but they showed segments of it and subtly ridiculed Fox Entertainments explanation of Paula's bizarre behavior. They said that the Dallas interview was the last one of the scheduled interviews, and due to Paula's behavior in the previous interviews, they didn't even think she'd make it through to this interview. They've posted the unedited interview online. Especially interesting is when the interviewer says, "Are you feelin' me, or are you sleepin' on me?"

Of course not. I actually agree with her that it's not a big deal. I think most people wouldn't care that much if she just said "you know what, I had a little too much to drink and I'm sorry. I acted unprofessionally and I apologize to [fill in station] and [fill in reporters]. It won't happen again."

Why deny it? It only fans the flames. It's not the first time someone did the same thing. Danny DeVito acted like an idiot on the View, apologized and everyone moved on.

I saw the interview on G.M.A. she did not seem to be in complete control of what she was thinking ,and what was coming out of her mouth . All I can say is that people feed off the misery of other's; if she needs help for a substance abuse problem then Paula needs your prayers not your slanderous critic's. If it is not a drug problem it may be some thing worse like neurological problems ( diminshed cognative functions) then she needs your support ,and prayers. JK

I don't believe it a bit, also working in TV production. Here's the interview from KTVU (which already had another copy pulled), and she looks just as bad here. "We're named into being reality"?? She's toasted on something.

Ok people, heres the real deal - she is not stoned or on drugs ; shes on medication for her back, prob like a morphine or such, but that type of medication makes you stupid like. Last night on Idol she looked cracked out, but she wasnt, every one should just leave her alone and go on with their own lives.

Not only am I certain Paula Abdul was high on something for that interview but I watched the show on Tuesday night, Jan. 16th and she exhibits the same behavior. She was sort of flailing her arms and head around and acting and speaking very bizarre! Just watching her disturbs me.

she is taking some sort of drug.Teenagers are huge supporters of this show.We don"t need our kids idolizing her in any way.

Paula was definately on "something" last night on American Idol. Half the time she couldn't even keep her eyes open! She was yanking at her bra strap and looked terrible. Did you notice that Simon left her alone last night and didn't ridicule her at all? Somethings up and I think that the powers that be had better get her under control!! Children are watching this show and they shouldn't have a drunk or drug abuser on primetime television.

She acts very much like someone that is on Cocaine and probably some type of sedative. She was sniffling the entire time on the Dallas interview. It looks like she got some more up her nose between the Seattle interview and the Dallas one so she was more alert but still wasted.

I am SOOOO SICK of people using the "I am/was taking pain medication for an old back injury" excuse!!! Someone mentioned above that it may have been for her back again,ie. morphine,Rush L. used the back injury excuse when he got caught too. They are suppossed to have an injury and/or pain so badly that they take all of these medications and you only hear about it IF they act like she did or get caught some other way! I know one of those people that REALLY have that type of injury. They have to use those powerful meds, and they regularly see other people at the specialists offices that are in the same boat that these stars supposedly are in. People have alot of other symtoms when they are REALLY in that physical state! They do not walk all nice and pretty for one, they DO NOT wear all of the nice, high heels, they do not get to keep wonderfully toned bodies because over time, they cannot continue to do the required work outs, so they would not DARE wear skimmpy little clothes, and the list goes on and on!!! Also they DO NOT stagger around or slur their words on occassional days and act fine on others! These actors/actresses and other famous names are substituting pain killers for street drugs and when they get caught they come up with some injury that would be nothing to the "common man", if it exists at all!
