As some of you may have seen, TV Squad's Joel Keller and Kevin Kelly are out in L.A. helping us cover the TCA press tour this month. Last week Kevin was lucky enough to score me an early copy of the next episode of Battlestar Galactica on DVD, so of course I said "the Golden whats?" and watched it as soon as I could tear the package open.Last time we saw the show, you might remember that Adama was about to launch nukes to the planet surface. I'm not going to go out of my way to ruin surprised for you here, but I will say, once again, you won't be disappointed. This is an episode worthy of a season premiere, even though it technically isn't one.
Before you get totally jealous that I saw this episode early, know that these things come to us in a very unpolished form. The bulk of the visual effects are incomplete and even some of the dialogue is thrown in by the director(?) in some cases. It definitely makes one want to see the actual aired episode, even though you know what will happen.
The best way I can think of to not outright spoil things for you is to pick choice quotes from each of what I call the main plot points and let you have at it with your speculation. I'll have something more juicy in Spoilers Anonymous tomorrow. Trust me, while, to you, the quotes below seem very vague, they are key moments in the episode (and the show, for that matter).
WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILERS EXIST BEYOND THIS POINT! FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS IF YOU READ BELOW KEEP YOUR PISSED-OFFNESS AWAY FROM ME!
- Athena (to Helo): "I'm begging you to do this. Find the courage to do this for both of us, OK?"
- Tyrol: "Welcome home, Mr. President."
- D'Anna: "You. Forgive me, I ... I had no idea."
- Athena: "Don't shoot! She helped us escape!"
- Brother Cavil: "Your model is fundamentally flawed."

the Tyrol and second Athena quotes have been shown in previews already so those aren't much of a suprise. can't wait to see them in the episode. Sunday can't come fast enough.
I am going to go ahead and guess some context on the other quotes (since its pouring snow in my office and no one can make it in today)
SPOILER SPACE
1st Athena quote- Has to do with getting Hera back. Sounds like Athena has to convince Helo to go through with a rescue op.
D'Anna quote- this one stumps me.
Cavil quote- Could easily be directed towards a Boomer model since we have been told before the Boomer model is "defective" but I feel this will be directed at D'Anna.

The Brother Cavil quote is obviously talking about Xena because she went down to the planet and has been killing herself numberous times.

Why does everyone always call her Xena?
Just because that was her previous most well known role doesn't mean you should always call her that. She has a name (Lucy Lawless) and her character on BSG is D'Anna or Number 3.
Is that so hard?

Damn, someone is a little testy there.
Chill out David.
I would not say I am anal about it. More so just annoyed with people's inability to move past one actor's role. (and for the record, I actually do not care for Lucy as an actress and felt she has brought nothing special to the role on BSG)

Couldn't agree more with Fazil. It's not just here... Alan Light (Combat Information Center podcast), for example, inexplicably always calls her Zena. It really is annoying. Why don't we call EJO "Lt. Castillo" and MM "Stands with a Fist"?

My best guess: Athena is going to ask Helo to kill her so she can be resurrected on a Cylon ship... the only way to rescue Hera.

I just hope when they air it they don't do that annoying viewer comment crawler. We had to cut up a pizza box to block that damn thing during the marathon yesterday.

Akbar: I think some of it feeds from the TWOP site, which makes up funny "nicknames" for the characters of the shows that they review. I actually find it about the only thing that they do that I like.
I keep wanting to call Cavil Al. I mean you can call me Al, so why I can't call him Al?

Obviously(post#7): Even if your take on what happens does not unfold, it is still a damn good guess. A remarkable guess.
Akbar: Could it be that D'anna was in the midst of an accidental revelation of one of the oft-anticipated new cylons, in the middle of something? (just a thought, we'll find out Sunday, soon enough).
As for me, I will let you faithful speculate on what happens. I intend to sit back and watch one of the most beautiful women, and exciting actress in the world go into action. She is going to light up the world of BSG!

Well, the "shoot me so I can download" theory fits the quote pretty well and it would be the best way for her to sneak aboard.
Dorv-I actually stay away from TWOP due to their immature writing style.
Giffy-that annoying crawl was just for the marathon (although I can't stand that they still run large ads during the episode)

Well TJ, think about a little scifi series a few years back that had a great cult following but wasn't pulling in the ratings the network thought it could so they moved it to Sunday nights.
That little show? X-Files.
Now granted, it was moved to 9pm which is a much more approachable time block. It's more the move to 10 on a Sunday that scares me.

Any thoughts on who we will discover to be a cylon? As TV Squad has indicated previously based on a report from Ask Ausiello at TV Guide, Starbuck is not a cylon. Could it be Baltar? Admiral Adama?

D'Anna comment: Maybe she finally meets physically or metaphysically with one of the final five, and it's someone she was crappy to like Dr. Cottle?

Now that we are post episode, I have to make guesses at who D'Anna saw in the temple. I believe that they only showed her looking at one of the five. I am not so sure it is someone from the current Battlestar show, I have a strange feeling it is someone from the original BSG or Tom Zarek. Zarek has gone from Bad Guy, to decent guy, and I think he is heading back to the bad side soon. I have a feeling we won't know for certain anytime soon though.

Anyone concerned with the switch to Sundays. I have seen almost always that this is a bad omen for a series.
