Ugly Betty turns Project Runway with designer challenge

Ashley Jensen Christina Ugly BettyUgly Betty is playing Project Runway with its design-inclined viewers. Between now and January 28th, you can submit a dress design to be used on an episode of the show. If you impress Betty's costume designer Eduardo Castro and the cast, you'll be flown out to watch a taping of the show featuring your design come to life. Of course, there's a catch. This design contest requires a little "Sister Maria tears down the curtains for playclothes" ingenuity.

The plot of the episode your dress will be featured in centers around a tricky dilemma for keeper-of-the-clothes Christina. She has twelve hours to design a dress for a big shot, Madonna-type celebrity, but a blizzard prevents her from making the Garment District rounds. She'll have to throw something together from the office supply closet - meaning that your design has to incorporate tape, bubble wrap, hole punchers, paper clips and anything else from the Dunder-Mifflin catalog that might inspire you. I have no idea why Christina wouldn't just repurpose something from the Mode closet, but then again, I didn't understand why an ardent minimalist designer would be charmed by a White Castle in Jersey. I'm just no fun, but Betty is so conjure your inner Justin and make it work.
