Ex-Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson was awarded the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture during tonight's award show. Even though I don't particularly like film adaptations of stage productions (don't even get me started on how much I hated Rent or The Producers), I did enjoy Dreamgirls and was blown away by Hudson's spectacular performance (both her singing and acting were incredible). She not only holds her own in a film full of major stars -- such as Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy, and Jamie Foxx -- she pretty much steals the show. This all bodes well for Hudson's chance at an Oscar nod. And it's a pretty big accomplishment for an American Idol alum who had tons of talent yet inexplicably went home during Season Three before both John Stevens and Jasmine Trias. Yup, that's what happens when you let the people decide. Sometimes popularity trumps talent. Good to see that this time, Hudson's talent was recognized and awarded.

Jennifer Hudson stole the movie and deserves to win an Oscar as well. She also did not deserve some of the negative comments she got on "Idol." She has a magnificent voice which was appropriately recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press. May she have the successful career she merits!

I was so disappointed in the movie for Rent. I loved that they used most of the original actors from the stage production but they dropped the sung dialog. All Rent-heads have listened to the soundtrack millions of times and you just expected it. Still it was a half decent adaptation.
The only good thing about The Producers was the fact that they could expand on the big production numbers. It was basically the stage show on film with some really big production numbers.
Dreamgirls was well done. I thought it was a little flat in areas and I was disappointed with Jamie Foxx but Jennifer Hudson was good. I'm glad she is getting the recognition that she deserves.

I was psyched for Jennifer Hudson. I have not seen the movie and I probably saw her perform on American Idol one time. However, it is obvious she can sing and it is obvious why she got the boot from Idol, regardless of her voice. The best part is that she beat Fantasia Barino for the part of Effie in Dreamgirls. Of course, broccoli could act better then Fantasia...

Jennifer Hudson's performance is just extraordinary! This was definitely her show, along with Eddie Murphy. These two are more than deserving of the Golden Globe and hopefully, the Oscar. Everytime Jennifer Hudson opened her mouth I cried. Thank God she didn't win American Idol. This award is much more sweeter!
