Ah, technology. No longer will you have to go outside to appreciate the wonders of nature. Instead, the Discovery Channel is going to bring you the wonders of the natural world in glorious high definition starting March 25 with an eleven-part series, Planet Earth.
The program, created by the same people behind Blue Planet, is the result of 70 camera operators working for 2,000 days in 2000 locations using advanced techniques and technology. Discovery will also air behind-the-scenes footage after each episode and will provide extra content online. I'm guessing that after seeing the world in high definition your only recourse will be to track down Mother Nature and spit in her face in disgust.

please also note that the Discovery Channel will be cutting down these episodes from the original length to fit into US standards. Too bad. I will wait for the DVD.

It is a shame that they'll be cutting these down (I'm sure they'll loose the diaries bit at the end), but this is a must see opportunity for anyone. Planet Earth is, without a peer in sight, the best nature program ever produced.
You're doing yourself a disservice if you miss any of it.

this series is great, it aired in the spring and autumn on BBC ONE in the UK. It had great ratings and everyone was talking about it, enjoy!

I second tom's endorsement! The first part of this BBC series has already aired in Canada and the second part is currently airing (Sunday nights at 7pm on the CBC). The cinematography is breathtaking and the shots they manage to capture are phenomenal. Even if you aren't a fan of nature docs, you just might be after a couple of episodes of this series.
