Hey, folks. I'm in Pasadena, at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Thanks to Kevin Kelly for doing Friday's session as I was flying in from New Jersey. After a night's sleep and a tour of "beautiful" Hollywood (including a stop at legendary hot dog haven Pink's, where I waited for an hour in 45 degree cold to get a chili dog. Yes, I'm one of those guys), I'm refreshed and ready to go.Anyway, today was the first of the broadcast network presentations, and we started with an announcement: the new season of Dancing with the Stars will be start on Monday, March 19th. Why Monday instead of the previous season's Tuesday timeslot? Two words, according to network president Steve McPherson: American Idol.
In his executive Q&A session, McPherson told the gathered critics that putting Dancing on Mondays made sense. "We wanted people to not have to choose between Idol and Dancing," he said. "Our Monday night is kind of a fun night. The show has proven it could be on different places (on the schedule) and succeed." He went on to say, "We spend a lot of our time beating up on each other. Both shows are good shows and there is room for them on the schedule." The names of the celebrities will be announced at a yet-to-be-determined date on Good Morning America.

Ian Ziering? I IMDB'd him and I'm still not sure who he is. Apparently the fifth or sixth billed star on "Beverly Hills, 90210" is good enough for this show.
Jennifer Anniston apparently thought about a spot on the upcoming season and turned it down.
NBA star Reggie Miller also apparently turned a spot down.
Duchess Sarah Ferguson is also rumored.

Joey Fatone was a rumor that AOL started. They brought up the fact that like the Duchess, he said he also wanted to be on the show, however it was never confirmed.
Why do we like it? I don't like it for the celeb. I love the dancing aspect of it, and I'd pick DWTS over the crap of American Idol any day!

Great Show.
Yes to Anthony Federov. Two years ago Jennifer Hudson would be great too. Now would she be a dancer or a star? Larry King stated on his show that he loved DWTS and had a big grin when asked if he would like to be on it.
Another one that would probably go for it would be GHW Bush. Unfortunately he has had that recent hip surgery. He doesn't turn anything down and isn't afraid of anything either.

TV has so few respectable shows that it is a pleasure to have DWTS. I love some of the names mentioned above as possible contestants. Yes to Anthony Federov!! how about Larry King? He stated that he loved the show. George HWW Bush would be wonderful but with the new hip probably would have to pass on this one. He isn't afraid of anything though. Give him a call anyway.

Thanks

Forget Anthony Fedorov for now. He did say his manager was pushing for him, he wanted to do it. But, I just read he is now starting a Broadway play "Fantastics" for a while, then off to Europe, then putting out his almost completed CD. I am hoping he will be on the show sometime, it would give him such exposure when his CD comes out. I think he is adorable and would be hugely popular on the show.
I read that Jerry Springer will be announcing the "Star Lineup" on GMA on February 21st.I hope there are some interesting people and I also all of the pro dancers return, except for Mario's partner. I think she is not a good sport. I guess that is what "falling in lust" does to her.
