FOX News TV writer Roger Friedman is reporting today that Rosie O'Donnell will probably leave The View when her one-year contract is up. The reason? Backstage tension, of course.Friedman cites the it-just-won't-die flap with Donald Trump as one of the last straws in what has become a conflict with the show's matriarch, Barbara Walters. It seems like Walters is playing the two combatants against each other, according to Friedman, and Rosie is surprised that Barbara isn't being more supportive. Hence, once the "school year" is over in June, she'll take her ball and go home.
Now, realize Friedman also published an article speculating that Studio 60 was about to be canceled right before it was picked up for a full season, so I'm taking a "wait and see" approach with everything he writes. But you can't deny that, while Rosie's presence has upped The View's profile, she might not want to put up with the circus for much longer. I guess we'll find out in June.

Isn't this writer the same guy who claimed that 'Studio 60' was about to be cancelled? I've never read the guy, but does anybody know if he's ever been right with his claims?
I just have this knee-jerk reaction to never trust anything I read in a Murdoch publication......

I love Barbara Walters - she is warm, sincere and too classy for what has become a trashy, classless fight.
I really like Trump, he grew on me after the Apprentice. He seems like a tough, but fair and tell-it-like-it-is, kind of guy.
I like Rosie but I don't think she is good for the view. Yes, the view is just that, a view from everyone's side or opinion, not just Rosie's. Rosie is too extreme one way or the other. She either LOVES or HATES someone, not much balance in the middle. Rosie rants and raves over too many things, too much passion about too many things. She loses credibility because its not just about a couple of passionate views, she goes off on the littlest thing and is sometimes looking for a fight, too often.
I really like Rosie but it is not the "Rosie Show", is it? She needs to tame it down and respect everyone on the view and don't force them to fight to view their opinions also.

I was never a huge Rosie O'Donnell, but in her early comedic career she was quite good. I always thought she was great in Sleepless in Seattle and A League of Their Own; not to mention that she was the perfect person to play Betty Rubble in the first live-action film of The Flinstones. However, the day she got her talk show and it became a runaway hit her head seemed to grow as big as Texas. She became combative and rudely dismissive of anyone who didn't agree with her. Maybe she's responsible for boosting the viewership of The View; if so, then great, but enough is enough already! This pseudo-spat with Donald trump reaks of a cynical ploy for ratings.

She's in line for a big payday when her contract comes up in June. I'm guessing this is the first salvo in what will be a LARGE, multi-year holding deal with ABC.
As Nick Saban showed the University of Alabama: The first step in jacking up the money is to tell someone who really wants you that you're just not interested.
I don't give a crap who Barbara Walters likes or doesn't like; Rosie means big money for ABC. (Right now, anyway.)

why is there an assumption that Rosie doesn't like conflict? She hasn't exactly run and hide in this "fight".. she's enjoying it as much as Trump is.

I always liked the View, but now I love the View. It finally fits its name. Rosie has made the show more enjoyable. Joy seems more real then ever and Elizabeth has finally came out of her shell. When Rosie joined you could see the tension between the women. Now you can tell they feel relaxed with one another. Even Rosie and Elizabeth have developed a frendship.

I just personally think it's a shame that a FORMER esteemed journalist like Barbara Walters is sitting at the helm of this BITCH FEST. You have Rosie dissing everybody and expousing her agenda to the point of nauseum . You then have Joy who used to make me more sick, but that was before Rosie came on to hate. Then there is Elizabeth Hazzelback. Nice to look out, but who the hell cares about her.
If I were in a room with BABS I'd ask her this. "Is this the way you really want to be remembered?"

Rosie's a cash cow (no pun intended). Neither ABC or Walters will be able to resist that. I have a feeling that it will be up to Rosie whether or not she returns. I doubt she will, she'll be able to do pretty much whatever she wants.

Personally I think that this has gotten out of hand and seems like Barbara Walters is being a two face. I guess the ratings are the important thing here and therefore keeping throwing away a friendship with the Donald is easier then to hear the crap that keeps coming out of Rosie's mouth. I think everyone should boycott this rediculas show, then lets how fast Barabara Walters jumps the Rosie band wagon.

The funniest thing is someone who looks and talks like Trump going after ANYONE based on their looks or their big mouth.

Rosie has had some funny spots on the View, HOWEVER it drives me crazy how she is quick to give her opinion, which is usually about something that is non of her business anyway, and then she has the nerve to throw a fit or act all sarcastic if someone disagrees with her (like when she made the chinese comments). She didn't know she offended anyone, but people can't say "boo" and she thinks they are saying something negative about gays. I think Kelly Ripa has shown the best response into Rosie's outburst. Stick up for yourself and then IGNORE HER. They are acting like a bunch of kids, she has no room to talk as far as morals acting like that.

I believe Barbara did tell Donald in private what he said she did about Rosie...believing it to be in confidence (which actually, it should have been). Then, Rosie attacked her yesterday in the dressing room for not properly defending her. So today, Barbara decided to bite the bullet (Rosie is a bullet!) and stand up for her new co-host in order to keep/restore the peace on set. But something that has never occurred before happened today. Barbara Walters lost her dignity. She herself stooped to Rosie's level by calling Donald sad and pitiful, which is unbelievable, coming from the venerable reporter. I frankly couldn't believe that came from her mouth, just to please Rosie. But then, you get back what you put out, don't you? She lied about Star Jones's firing, and now she's gotten publicly exposed for lying about what she said to Donald. When you treat someone unfairly with whom you've sat for 9 years, you reap what you sow. Yes, Star was over the top sometimes, but she never insulted person after person after person on national television, as Rosie O'Donnell does regularly with her bullets. Sadly, Rosie has finally shot down the impeccable reputation of Barbara Walters.

I rarely watch the View since I work, and usually prefer Ellen anyway. I did, however, watch the Apprentice. Not anymore. That man's ego, claiming to be a ratings magnet, as well as his distasteful descriptions of Rosie, will keep me from ever tuning into anything with which he is involved.

The truly surprising is that Trump is behaving in a manner that would have him tossed out of the board room on the apprentice. He is not a role model for any kind of classy behavior (maybe Paris Hiltons Mom could teach him manners on the short lived show). What is refreshing is that Rosie who normally spouts off with little provocation, hasn't resorted to his level. If this isn't a publicity stunt, the Donald should be ashamed of himself. He is a businessman not a talk show ratings junkie, or is he? I'd crawl in a hole if I were part of this mans family (albeit a gold lined hole!)

Personally, I feel Rosie is the biggest hoax perpetrated on the American people since the Hitler Diaries. She never endosrsed children until she found it would make her money and add some fame to her boring resume. Rosie did not "come out" until it was of some benefit (financially)to her. We all know that Trump would not risk the civil liabilities of repeating something, had it not been said. BaBa WaWA is a lying "Has Been" and needs to have the intestinal fortitude to admit when she is called on the carpet for opening her old, over the hill, antique pie hole. My suggestion, Herr Rosie, is that your "15 minutes of fame for the over weight lesbians" end is here. As Paul Harvey would say, "Good Day."

"Sadly, Rosie has finally shot down the impeccable reputation of Barbara Walters."
Don't you mean Barbara has finally shot down the impeccable reputation of herself? She hired Rosie, knowing full and well that this would mean conflict with Star Jones and then she blantanly lied about that whole fiasco and tried to make Star look bad. I am sure that while she did expect Rosie to bring in a different, and strong, opinion on issues, she probably didn't expect her to start making enemies with the likes of Kelly Ripa and Donald Trump. I am sure that while she is probably loving the ratings, she also can't lose face. She probably did say all those things to "The Donald" and when he got out of line and betrayed her confidence, she decided she would betray right back. She probably lied to Rosie and said that she never said those things and that, yes Rosie, you were right all along, he is crazy and pathetic. She can lie and not feel bad about it because he betrayed her, so tit for tat. Also, I doubt that Barbara is such an angel. She probably didn't climb to the top of her field in a man's world, back in those days, by not having a little chutzpa!

Rosie O'Donnell needs to get over herself.....there is such a thing as being opinionated, but she is just way over the top. Not a fan of Donald Trump either, but I hope he does sue her and maybe she'll learn to keep her big trap shut. I wish The View wouldn't wait until June to get rid of her....She was great in League of Their Own and she used to be funny - now she's just a big mouth who likes to stir up crap.

I REMEMBER THAT THERE WAS A TIME THAT ANYTHING THAT HAD BARBARA WALTERS INVOLVED, WOULD STOP ME IN MY TRACKS BECAUSE SHE WAS SO PROFESSIONAL, THOROUGH, ACCOMPLISHED AND COMPASSIONATE- I COULD HARDLY WAIT TO HEAR WHAT SHE HAD TO SAY. WHAT HAPPENED TO HER? SHE'S LOST CLASS, DIGNITY AND CREDIBILITY. I WAS ALSO A FAN OF ROSIE'S A FEW YEARS AGO.. HOWEVER, SHE AND BARBARA HAVE TURNED INTO "TRASHY SOUL-MATES"... I THINK BARBARA CAVED IN TO ROSIE ONE DAY DEMANDING FOR BARBARA TO DEFEND HER.. HEY ROSIE - SORRY, BUT YOU DREW "FIRST BLOOD" WITH THE DONALD AND EVERYBODY KNOWS IT... MY MOM (REST HER SOUL) USED TO USE THE OLD SAYING "PRETTY IS AS PRETTY DOES"... BOTH BARBARA AND ROSIE ARE GETTING MORE UNATTRACTIVE AS THE DAYS GO BY. GEE, BARBARA, ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK - DO YOU REALLY WANT TO THROW IT AWAY BY JUMPING IN THE MUD PUDDLE WITH ALL OF THE PIGS?
DONALD IS ONLY KEEPING THIS GOING BECAUSE YOU, ROSIE AND NOW YOU, BARBARA - JUST WON'T SHUT UP..

I personally think that once Rosie said what she said and Donald responded, there was no need for them to continue with the Pimp comments and the Fat Slob comments. I like Rosie. I think she is great for the VIEW and would watch her on any TV show. She needs her own show again maybe. As for Donald, I wont watch his Apprentice show anymore because I have lost all respect for him. He is making fun of FAT people which is the lowest form of insult. I cant believe that he has continued to rant and rave about this thing. I personally do not think Barbara is lying. I think she is right to back Rosie. I hope Rosie stays on the show. I never watched it before she went on. It was a bore before. She is great. I like to see her express how she feels about things, it makes it more real! GO ROSIE!
