What About Brian: What About the Tangled Web

Krista Allen on 'What About Brian.'(S02E10) This was the type of episode that originally drew me to What About Brian. It was fast-paced, all the stories intertwined, and it was laugh out loud funny on more than one occasion. It's a good thing too because had this episode not been so good, and I was planning on not reviewing it anymore. This one has me hooked again and believe it or not, it had nothing to do with the cliffhanger.

First off, we had the culmination of Nic's pregnancy. She had a girl (named her Bella) and seems like everything in the delivery room went smoothly. While sweet and all, there was no real point to Nic's story here other than how it served to give her closure with Angelo. What it really did was bring Dave and Deena's marital issues into full focus.

These two do not get along at all and I love how their bickering has finally put them in a position where it puts off their friends. Once the people they see day in and day out can't stand them, maybe Dave and Deena can get back together. Then we'll be done with Deena's terrible dates and the accompanying stories that go with them. That TK guy? Talk about disposable. That was such a waste of time in the last episode. Speaking of which, what happened to the cupcake business? I hated the idea but it got dropped a bit abruptly, no?

Then of course we have the two stories that are just making my head-spin. Briget and Sandwich Girl. For all intensive purposes, Brian and Dave have both hit pay dirt. But c'mon, each situation is so wrong. Dave's life rule #2: Never go after your Dad's sloppy seconds. Dave needs another rule for himself though: don't date someone who could just as easily be babysitting your children while you're on that date. Each case has its own ethical/moral/freak show issues, but I suppose you can't blame either of them. Briget and Sandwich Girl? Damn.

As far as Adam goes, I've warmed up to him of the course of this season. Heather too for that matter. It really does seem like these two are in it for the long-haul. Adam's willingness to buy out the strip-club every night until Heather quit was a nice touch.

And then there was the cliffhanger. As I said, this was a great episode without the return of Marjorie. I found it a bit anti-climactic though. We knew she was coming back, it was just a matter of when. So this was less of an "oh my god" moment and more of an... well, I don't know what kind of moment I thought it was. I think I found myself saying "touché" as she came down the LAX escalator, which I guess makes sense because her coming back now is a well-played move on the part of the show writers. Adam and Brian both seem to be happy and now Marjorie is going to screw it all up. This should only get better now.

Great Lines:

Dave (regarding the lap dance he just got while eating lunch): "Dude, this so doesn't happen at Subway."

Dave (to Brian, offering help with the Briget situation): "If you ever feel a little tingle down below, think about your buddy Dave."
