There are several things that bother me about the new CBS show Armed & Famous, which debuts this Wednesday at 8pm. One, it's another damn reality show. I've truly reached my breaking point with these shows, especially ones that are just gimmicks and not teaching us anything new or providing something substantial at the end.
But the main reason I'm bothered about the show is this: the ads keep saying that the show is going to feature "real celebrities" going to work as real cops. Um...since when are people like Erik Estrada and "that guy from Jackass" real celebrities? Latoya Jackson? She has a weird brother. Jack Osbourne? He's the son of a weird father. The hot blonde chick is...um, who is she again?
Why didn't they get Roger Clinton to star, or maybe Frank Stallone? They too busy? So far, the only thing I've found amusing about this is the fact that Estrada just got into an argument with a guy who called him "Emilio Estevez."
In this day and age, if a reality show wants to be really different, they should get some real famous, real celebrities. I want to see Julia Roberts eating bugs. I want to see Brad Pitt arresting people for speeding. I want to see Johnny Depp get fired from Donald Trump.

What a stupid article. Of course a show like this isn't going to get A-list stars. That's just asinine. And yes, each cast member is famous. Look the word up if you're having trouble with it.
What was the point of this other than to crap on the show? Are you reviewing the content or just being a jerk?

Well, that's just it...Real Celebrities do not need to "Re-vitalize" their career, in shows like Dancing with the Stars and Armed & Famous, you forget that's what this about...cheap labor.

The only problem with CBS's "hilarious" commercials for this show is that the producers sold this the concept to the Muncie Police Department as a serious look at how people become officers. Yeah, if people in the department were stupid enough to buy that pitch, they probably deserve to be embarrassed on national TV. However, why do the citizens of Muncie, who had no choice in booking the show, deserve that as well? CBS roped the city in and now has them well hog tied.
What happens after people like Ashley stop laughing next month and the people of Muncie have to deal with being a national site gag? Since Ashley obviously doesn't know the Muncie residents, does that make it OK to not care about what her laughter does to them? Does anybody here want kids to learn, thanks to police officers no less, that it's OK to make fun of somebody if you don't know who they are? If this is the best we can do to manufacture comedy, the genre is dead for sure.
