Love him or hate him, Rob Lowe is sticking around for the rest of the season on Brothers & Sisters. He plays conservative Sen. Robert McCallister. Ever since Lowe's first guest appearance on November 19th, ratings have been up in the coveted 18-49 age category. Apparently people really like him in a supporting role. So, he has agreed to play the character for the rest of the season. Lowe will continued to be billed as a 'Special Guest Star' but, as Variety points out, Heather Locklear had the same billing on Melrose Place even after becoming a regular.I don't watch Brothers & Sisters, so I can't give an opinion on this one. What do you think? Are you happy Rob Lowe is a somewhat permanent part of the cast?

After watching last night's episode it's obvious Flockhart and Lowe have some good chemistry together. And, of course, the Republican he plays happens to support gays rights, has a gay brothers, and is not opposed to some gun control; in other words, one of those fantasy Republicans Hollywood likes to trot out now and again to show their Conservative cred. I really enjoy this show and if Lowe's presence can bring the ratings up good enough for ABC to keep it around, I say pay him an un-Godly amount of money and keep him on the payroll.

Edward Herman, who is known for playing Richard Gilmore on the CW's "Gilmore Girls", has been billed as a "special appearance" for 7 seasons even though he appears in almost every episode.

I suspect "special guest star" has more to do with money than anything else. But that aside, yes, I am happy that he has joined the cast. I enjoyed him on the West Wing, and the part he's playing now is a natural progression from that role. He has a lot of charisma and I look forward to seeing more of him and Calista Flockhart in the show.

What Spader was for THE PRACTICE, will Lowe be the same for BROTHERS AND SISTERS?
The key guest starring actor on an otherwise weak show that an entire spinoff series is wrapped around? (Keeping Callista, natch)
Spader won an Emmy as a guest star and they wrapped a spinoff around him and I could see the same thing happening.

I really like B&S, so if Lowe brings in the ratings and keeps the show on the air, I say great. I personally don't think the show needed him, however.

i'm happy he's on because Flockhart hasnt lived up to this show, maybe he can help her character. Otherwise, it seems like it's all Sally Field, but, yes, Sally, i like you, i really like you!
i like this show for its location, its big family, the family business, the house, etc.

I love Rob on the show! I think B&S is a very nice show that everyone can relate to. It'd be nice 2C a love triangle between him, Kitty & her former flame Warren, w/Rob winning after the elections of course!
